Middle School Expels Teen With Eyebrow Shaver

PENN HILLS, Pa. -- A Pittsburgh-area teenager has been suspended from middle school when a random search turned up an eyebrow shaver in her handbag.

Officials at Linton Middle School in Penn Hills recommended at a Wednesday disciplinary hearing that 15-year-old be expelled for the rest of this year and 45 days next year.

The teen said she doesn't consider the eyebrow trimmer a weapon. She fears expulsion will hurt her chances of becoming a nurse-anesthetist. She's a Girl Scout and a member of the school's basketball team, choir and leadership team.

The school released a statement saying it has a standard disciplinary policy that addresses all students equally. The girl's mother said she doesn't believe her daughter has been given a chance.

a male student would get his ass kicked for being unshaven at any school sanctioned activity.

does it have an enclosed blade like a disposable razor or an exposed one? I guess if it's exposed it could be considered a weapon but that's an awfully harsh punishment.

Re eyebrows, when I was taking regular Ambien (not CR) I was brushing my teeth one night and looked in the mirror and my eyebrows were gone. Apparently I had sleep shaved them. And I had been at work all day and nobody said a thing even though I looked like ET. I went off Ambien, but no other sleep aid works for me, so now I take the CR with no bad results in a year or more of use.

I can understand how disturbing it must have been and that people having weird experiences with the drug is a serious issue but...

And totally out of character I don't even pluck my eyebrows. But it's only happened to me once. I don't sleep eat, I would know food was missing because I live alone, or sleep drive or send strange emails. Ambien just got me the once so I'll use the controlled release until something bad happens.

She'd need to have the bikini waxer attachment to get expelled.

that the needed to carry their "eyebrow shaver" with them at all times.. People used to do stuff like that at home,,in the privacy of their own bathroom/bedroom..
