Coincidentally, we live close to an Army base & we just adopted a soldiers kitten. The soldier is going to be deployed soon and his wife was going to stay with her family. Unfortunately although her family was willing to accept her small dogs they weren't willing to take in his kitten as well.

It darn near broke my heart when I left with that kitten for two reasons... knowing that this young man was going to be risking his life of course but because he obviously was very attached to this "very special kitten" (his words... but he's right) and truly very saddened that he had to give him up. I told them both to save my email and I'd be glad to keep them posted on how he's doing. What I didn't say of course was I hope and pray that this soldier lives to be old enough to tell his grandchildren about this "very special kitten" someday.
