Sorting out the owners of A.M. radio stations that broadcast these lunatics.
Edited on Thu May-28-09 07:08 PM by Mike 03
I was snooping around some of the stations I listen to that carry some of these idiots (Limbaugh, Savage, Hannity), and I could only find Citadel, but I know there are some big ones I am missing, including some major companies that camouflage themselves as other sub-corporations.

Some major radio station empires are running for their lives right now, if not declaring bankruptcy, and I think it is totally legitimate to hit them where they hurt, which is now.

If anyone has advice or guidance regarding some "news" station that runs morons like Limbaugh, Savage, Dennis Pregar, please let us know, so we can direct critical emails to the program managers and say, "This is bullshit. These people are out of touch with the nation and where we are going, and, with all due respect, get the fuck rid of them."

It might work. I think it is worth a shot, since I know many of these radio companies are on the verge of bankruptcy as it is.

Thanks for reading my tirade, but I fucking HATE what these companies have done to A.M. radio. They destroyed it.

2. ABC radio networks
They're the worst. Here in Chicago it's WLS. The corruption surrounding am talk radio is massive.
They are the dominant station in a city of all dems. How is that not a massive fraud on the ratings.
I am sick about it and have been for years. The year 2000 in the spring they drove out, fired the remaining liberal on WLS. That was Mike Malloy. I went to his going away party at a bar over on Southport on the norhside.

3. I understand your frustration
I remember years ago trying to dig up the same information, and finding it very difficult, it almost seems that this info is purposely being hidden from the public.

But, here is a great site about PNW media.....definately very interesting reading.

9. Add 950AM Radio Mojo to that in Houston...
They run Joe "Pags", some crappy local people who piss me off badly in the morning (Walton & Johnson?), Mancow, Fred fucking Thompson (how the hell did he get a show?!), Dennis Miller, some others and Phil Hendrie at night.

5. Some Words Of Wisdom...
...or as best as one who lived in the radio world in a previous life.

Citadel is one of a handful of companies that specialize in hate radio. Clear Channel is the largest chain and owner of Premier, the distributor of Rushbo's show. Another group is Salem...they specialize in right wing hate...under the "Patriot" name and syndicate Bettamillion Bill Bennett, Michael Medved and Hugh Hewitt. CBS is the other major radio owner, but they operate just a few hate stations compared to the others.

Right now radio is in a financial downhill fall...revenues have fallen for the past 5 years...Citadel's stock fell off the NYSE and Clear Channel has fired nearly 25% of their staff since Inauguration day (yes, they fired 600 people that day) and is reported trying to stave off filing for bankruptcy. Overall, a combination of losing listeners (find someone under 35 who listeners to a radio today...I dare ya) and financial mismanagement, radio is doing its best to become obsolete.

Many "local" stations aren't anymore...all decisions are made in the corporate offices and going after their local manager won't accomplish much. But there are a couple things you can do...

First, is to write a letter...a real, honest to goodness on paper letter...mail it certified (to give you a written receipt that the station received it) and demand that the letter be placed in the station's Pubic Inspection File. This is a file that anyone can see and includes all correspondence from listeners about programming or the station's ability to address community needs. They are required to maintain this file and make it available to anyone to look at during "station business hours". If you go to the station you have the right to see this file (as well as your letter). If they refuse to let you see the file or you don't find your letter, you have a nice little case to take to the FCC that could give the station some headaches.

More important is to push for the revision or outright repeal of Telcom '96 that turned the radio dial into the domain of a handful of powerful (and predominately right wing) companies. It's destroyed local radio service and eliminated most competition. Restore ownership limits, shorten license renewal periods and give local owners priority in challenging and obtaining licenses and radio can once again open up to diversity and be a useful medium.

7. I take credit for Clear Channel's downfall.
A few years back, when I went to San Antonio and visited GOPisEvil, I mooned Clear Channel's corporate HQ. Seriously! When I found out their HQ was there, I was on a mission! I put a curse on them that night, and it was just a matter of time until their demise! MWAHAHAHAHA!

And yes, I do believe there is photographic evidence out there somewhere! I don't recall whose camera it was on! LOL

8. Well Done...
Now I'd love to see those pics

I wasn't as bold but "paid respects" at Faux HQ in New York...had fun with the security guards (who didn't look too happy about what was going on inside). Right across the street was a T-shirt shop that had an "impeach bush" shirt on prominent display.

I think that was the sprinklers raining down on me... if I recall correctly, I was NOT going to let sprinklers keep me from mooning with their name in the background.

6. Here in the Atlanta area and all the stations carry the right-wingnuts.
I listen to WSB for the traffic on the way to and from work. But all day, they air Limbaugh, Boortz and Hannity (there is also Clark Howard, who I can forgive for being a right-winger because he gives some really good financial advice).

I listen to Hannity on the way home from work because I get the traffic report, which we here in the Atlanta area need. And I can direct my road rage at Hannity instead of the other idiots drivers.

I have already e-mailed the program manager once because one of the commentators who before the election referred to Obama as Osama and he said it twice. Really pissed off. But he e-mailed me back and said it was an honest mistake and he did not know the political affiliations of anyone at the station. That was mainly because I stated that the station was right-wing. Anyway, if you would like to e-mail WSB, the Web address is www.WSBTV.com or www.WSBradio.com.
