RW Blogs grasping at straws - still support Drudge Report claim of Ware heckling McCain

http://powerlineblog.com/archives/017239.php

<snip>

In his exclusive report on John McCain's and Lindsey Graham's press conference in Baghdad, Drudge asserted that CNN reporter Michael Ware "laugh and mock their comments." Raw Story posted video of the press conference here, and left wing sites such as Media Matters imply we have been flogging a false story. I have added updates to our posts noting the questionable accuracy of the Drudge item based on the video and asked Drudge to address the issue.

Today Glenn Reynolds linked to this AFP story by one Jennie Matthew. The AFP story is outrageously editorial in nature, but it does contain this choice nugget (emphasis added):

...

"I studied warfare. I'm a student of history. If you control the capital city of a nation you have a significant advantage," countered McCain as one reporter giggled at the back.

I don't know if giggles equal laughter and mockery, or if Ware was the giggler. But it seems to me that the AFP story provides evidence that tends to support Drudge's account. According to the Raw Story report and accompanying screen capture, Ware was sitting "in front of the camera," i.e., "at the back."

Rawstory actually contacts the AFP reporter...

<snip>

On Tuesday, a group of blogs pointed to a Sunday, April 1 story from Agence France-Presse reporter Jennie Matthew as evidence that a reporter in the back of the press conference had "giggled" while the Arizona Republican spoke.

She told RAW STORY in an e-mail that Michael Ware was not the culprit.

"As far as I'm aware there was no disruption of the press conference at all," wrote Matthew from Baghdad. "The reporter who giggled at the back was not Michael Ware, whom I don't remember giggling or making any kind of disturbance. I think I remember him wanting to ask a question, but the congressmen ended the news conference."

3. By definition the Bush backers in the bloggosphere are dishonest and liars.
You'd have to be to support the current Liar-in-Chief. I can't remember the last time they actually got a story right.

Yup, that's it exactly.

There is NO way that anyone with the capacity to think for themselves could continue to support republicans these days (not just Bush, the lot of them... they all eagerly support anything the evil $#&@ says.)

5. Not to mention that if "giggling" has now become "heckling" then our political discource has been
truly wimpified. And apparently Ware wasn't even the giggler. I saw the video. I heard no giggling. I did see a guy in the back whom I presume was Ware raise his hand a couple of times and not get called on. Maybe raising your hand at a press conference now qualifies as heckling?

Ware actually supports their position. He has repeatedly said that he thinks setting a timetable for leaving Iraq is a bad idea (sounds just like Pissypants' view to me). On the other hand, while he may personally support the White House line, he reports things objectively. Repukes don't like that. Facts have no place in their world. Either you're 100% behind their ideas (and that includes their propaganda) or you're a traitor. Democrats, on the other hand, are willing to tolerate a reporter who doesn't share their views because they know that his reporting is truly fair & balanced.
