1. I caught this on CNN this morning
I think they said that at some point during our Easter Holiday, Muslims celebrate the birth of the Prophet Mohammad.

2. No - they don't use the Gregorian calendar to celebrate holidays

Their holidays are based on an Islamic calendar; therefore, what was a holiday on April 4 this year isn't necessarily the same date next year.

3. There are still Christians in the Middle East
They are not all Muslims. One of Sadaam Hussein's cabinet members was a Christian.

Many of those Christians observe the same calendar as the west.

It's April 5th this year because it coincides with the Arabian calendar's date of his birth.
