Thank You, DU

I'd never have a clue what asinine crap the mainstream media has come up with about the President if I didn't visit DU and find several dozen threads about it.

Thanks. Literally.

4. Are the dozen threads refuting the "asinine crap" or holding it up as gospel??
Used to be you wouldn't have to ask that question...

5. I gave up on cable news during the 1st Gulf War
In those early days of the World Wide Web, I found out that the story of Saddam Hussein's troops invading Kuwaiti hospitals and tossing premature babies from their incubators was an utter fabrication. I've never looked back.

If there's anything worthwhile to see on cable news outlets, I'll find out about it here at DU; somebody always provides a link.

7. I hardly ever watch cable news anymore because of this site and others like it.....
There's no point, everything they "report" on cable news gets posted here anyways. Plus DU is better because you can post your opinion on whatever you like, you can't do that watching some news show.

8. This is a good thing ...

DU or not, watching cable news rots your brain. This is not an opinion. It is an established fact.

9. Yup....
Not only that but getting my news from here is just faster than sitting through an entire hour of some news program. Plus reading is better than just staring at the TV screen imo.

10. Ditto, I'd be lost without DU. The TV has not been on for months.
Basic Cable is so lame that it is just not worth the electricity to turn it on.

DU and the paper will do just fine. I read the paper every day and then go to DU to find out the real news.

After the news, I check out all the Forums, my Groups and find out the how-to's to keep my life and home in order. I'm especially grateful so those on certain groups that have helped me out of some real problems. I'd be lost without the Computer group, DIY, Cooking, Antiques, Pets, and every other one on my list of favorites.

Thank you all!!

11. RoyGBiv, I really hope you balance what you read here with material from other sources.
The MSM is bad, but DU doesn't exactly provide an unbiased view. I'm not certain that one could call the analyses emanating from DU as even rational.

Consider the source, and tap other sources.
