...who can explain the reason behind the President and First Lady using this form of relatively inexpensive executive travel as opposed to pulling the 74 out of the hangar?

1. I believe a C-21 is a Learjet...didn't they go in a Gulfstream?

Not sure which model...your question seems a little odd - I imagine they used it to save money, manpower and fuel.

2. A smaller retinue ......

The first couple, the doc, the football guy, the SS detail, maybe a few camp followers, some hangers on, no court jesters from the media. They probably rented an armored Suburban up there from one of the banksters. The SS drivers have probably been there since Thursday after going up on AMTRAK.

So yeah ..... light load. The G-5 is all they needed.
