Does the killer of Dr. Tiller deserve a fair trial?
For 8 years white, conservative fundamentalist Christians have made shrill arguments that terrorists do not have rights, that terrorists can be jailed without probable cause or due process, or habeas corpus or a jury trial. Or does that only apply to Muslims?

Obama has said he plans to continue military tribunals: well let's try 'em out on this fucker. Or maybe the murderer would be a good candidate for "indefinite detention."

Because to do otherwise would mean that we are no better than the murderer and his pack of coward supporters.

No more of this "domestic terrorist" bullshit.

Alt answer: The issue isn't what HE deserves, the issue is that WE Americans deserve that The State try us fairly. I'm not really sure why that's so hard for people to understand.

I remember the Nightline program the night the Harvey Milk decision came down. Hopefully people are more consistent this time around

17. Is the person innocent until proven guilty in a court of law just like those in Guatanamo
Of course - progressives shouldn't be any quicker to decide someones guilt than they are to defend the innocents of those in Guatanamo - people deserve a fair trial whether you like them or not.

and there were a thousand eye-witnesses.

What happened in the last eight years doesn't impact this situation in the slightest degree.

23. yes
regardless of how we personally feel about them, everyone deserves equal protection of the law, both the criminal and the victim. John Adams defended the British Soldiers of the Boston Massacre because he believed they deserved a fair trial, and legal council.

29. Yes, because this is America.
If we can't show even the lowest of the low what justice looks like, we may as well dismantle the Constitution completely.

Our forefathers didn't give up their lives for us to live like outside of the rule of law.

We already have laws in place to take care of this.
