I need some advice, VERY SERIOUS TOPIC HERE, BUSINESS PEOPLE WELCOMED TO REPLY
Hey everyone. You've seen me around the forums for a long while. For the past two years, I have been working in the commodities business for the past two years. The commodities business is a tough business to get anything done, but because of this business, I've made some excellent contacts that are going to pay off down the road.

One of my early contacts that i made is a buyer's agrent who is authorized to purchase banking instrunments. He actually taught me everything about the business, through him I gained the confidence to go out and talk to VP of banks, major traders, wall street traders that sort of thing. We have gotten to know each other over the past few years. I thought we had a tight relationship, until now.

Recently, another individual who works in this business brought me another buyer of banking instrunments. At the time, I ddin't put it together that this was his buddy. Now this buyer took it upon himself to call me asking if I had anything that matched what he need. I told him at the time I don't. I also asked for permission to contact him dirctly or if I should go through his buddy. He said he had no problems with me contacting him directly. Now all of a sudden, my origional buyer's agent is hopping mad that I was going to bring a transaction to his buddy without going through me.

Tonight, I got a very threatning email from him. He knows I am blind in one eye and he used that information to make a physical threat against me. He threaten to quote, get in his plane, come to my state, and kick my eye out and Kick my door in. I know for a fact this guy has the resources to carry out this threat. I am now in the process of filing a police report against this individual. I've also ended our two year friehndship over this. Do you think I made the right call?

1. Well, how much do you like your eye?
I'm thinking, yeah. What's the question?

3. It sounds like you made the right call.
Are you freaking out about the threat? It must be scary to have someone say those things.

4. WTF?
He made his threat in writing in an e-mail? what a dumb jerk. of course you are doing the right thing re the police report. BTW, I am curious - did you have an agreement with this thug as to going through HIM when he provides a referral to you? Not that it would excuse his behavior.

5. We
worked off of a gentleman's agreement. Here's the thing. I have put in 12 to 14 hour days connecting this guy with sellers. I can't proove it but i have a strong gut feeling this guy has closed transactions through my hard work.

This was the same investor who promised to fund my television series I created. Naturally, its not going to happen now. In fact, tomorrow, I'm calling all my contacts in the baking industury and letting them know what he did. In fact, I've herd from one of them that he's going to get him put on a Federal black list. This way he'll never be able to buy banking instrunments again.

6. Is there no sort of protocol for contacts?
Seems to me if your buddy actually introduced you to the other guy, it's his fault for endangering his business exclusivity.

But I really don't know how things work in your world.

7. There is
an unspoken protocol and I did specfically ask for permission to contact him directly. He even knew I worked for him on other transactions. Instead of saying, I perfer you go through the origional buyer's agent, he gave me permission to contact him. Now, because of this, I'm pulling away all my resources.
