Rudy Giuliani sure is yucky.
Fortunately for America, his presidential campaign was almost an unmitigated disaster, and he appears safely removed from actual power.

But it coulda got real yucky.

2. Yes. He seemed to be politically shrewd but was rough-hewn and more
than a bit of a bully.

It was, I must admit, a huge lift to see his presidential campaign gurgle its way to the bottom of the Everglades in Florida in 2008. Good riddance to bad rubbish, etc.

3. Meh...he was tolerable as mayor....
Probably would have been horrible as President, though.

I remember back in the early stages of this past Presidential election cycle, I was positive the two nominees were going to be Hillary and Rudy.

4. Hi, Brendan. Yep. Those two were holding commanding leads in the
polling all of 2007. The media were slobbering all over both of them.

Your Mets logo made me yearn for a bumpy, bone-rattling ride on the No. 7 out to Flushing. I miss my old haunting grounds in NYC.

5. Speaking of the 7 Train...
Name the speaker:

Imagine having to take the 7 Train to the ballpark looking like you're riding through Beirut next to some kid with purple hair, next to some queer with AIDS, right next to some dude who just got out of jail for the fourth time, right next to some 20-year-old mom with four kids. It's depressing...

7. I'm thinking pro baseballer John Rocker.
The purple hair part stood out especially, although the entire quotation was drenched in bigotry.

Folks with AIDS can be Mets fans on the no. 7 line. So can kids with purple hair.

Rocker took some heat for those comments, and he deserved it. Shame on him for rolling into the Big Apple with such a blithely clueless and hateful attitude.
