Who were the 3 repubs that visited Syria last week?
What was the pupose of their visit? Who was present during the meeting with Syrian officials in Bahgdad last week? How can bush and romney be so hypocritical? Pelosi is following the rcommendations of the BI_PARTISAN commission by engaging the Syrians in talks. From my meager experiences, I know talk is better than war.

Why must someone always confuse the issue with the facts??? Damn, they hate that. We are only supposed to pay attention to what they SAY, not what they do.

Don't let the facts get out. Some Freeper's head might explode. :nuke:

4. here you go
Republican Reps. Aderholt and Wolf are currently visiting Syria. According to a congressional official on Rep. Robert Aderholt’s (R-AL) staff, Aderholt and Rep. Frank Wolf (R-VA) are currently visiting Israel and Syria.

Moreover, as the AP reports, “Earlier this month, U.S. Assistant Secretary of State Ellen Sauerbrey held talks with a senior Syrian diplomat on how Damascus was coping with a flood of Iraqi refugees, the first such talks in the Syrian capital for more than two years.”

6. The 3 preemptive republicans are named here:
Lawmakers Visit Syria to Discuss Ties

AP
April 1, 2007

DAMASCUS, Syria (AP) -- U.S. House members meeting with President Bashar Assad Sunday said they believed there was an opportunity for dialogue with the Syrian leadership.

The U.S. House members, who included Virginia Republican Frank Wolf, Pennsylvania Republican Joe Pitts and Alabama Republican Robert Aderholt, also said they had raised with Syrian officials the issue of stopping the alleged flow of foreign fighters from Syria to Iraq.

In a statement issued by the U.S. Embassy in Damascus, the congressmen said they had talked about ''ending support for Hezbollah and Hamas, recognizing Israel's right to exist in peace and security, and ceasing interference in Lebanon.''

''We came because we believe there is an opportunity for dialogue,'' the statement said. ''We are following in the lead of Ronald Reagan, who reached out to the Soviets during the Cold War,'' it added.

.....

The visit came ahead of one on Tuesday by the leader of the U.S. House of Representatives, Speaker Nancy Pelosi, the highest-ranking politician to visit Damascus since relations began souring in 2003.

Pelosi, heading a congressional delegation, is on a fact-finding trip to the Middle East that includes visits to Israel, Syria, Jordan, Lebanon and Saudi Arabia. Her trip comes as the Democratic majority in Congress is locked in a battle with President George W. Bush over strategy in Iraq.

.....

Looks like to me, this was a preemptive attempt by frightened republicans to arrive ahead of Pelosi's visit. Got to position themselves to *lay claim* to any success that Speaker Pelosi accomplishes.

7. Romney is the biggest hypocrite
the ever walked the face of the earth. All his money came from the church of later day saints. I hate him. That veto shit was so fake. He never had a chance to really make a difference in MA. He is totally incompetent at governing.

8. Republicans Part With Bush on Syria
WASHINGTON (AP) -- Three Republican congressmen who parted with President Bush by meeting with Syrian leaders said Wednesday it is important to maintain a dialogue with a country the White House says sponsors terrorism.

"I don't care what the administration says on this. You've got to do what you think is in the best interest of your country," said Rep. Frank Wolf, R-Va. "I want us to be successful in Iraq. I want us to clamp down on Hezbollah."

Washington accuses Syria of backing Hamas and Hezbollah, two groups it deems terrorist organizations. The Bush administration also says Syria is contributing to the violence in Iraq by allowing Sunni insurgents to operate from its territory and is destabilizing Lebanon's government.

---

"This is an area where we would disagree with the administration," Aderholt said. "None of us in the Congress work for the president. We have to cast our own votes and ultimately answer to our own constituents. ... I think there's room that we can try to work with them as long as they know where we draw the line."
