Beck, King of the Bad Analogy: "It is 'intellectually dishonest' to blame Olbermann for murder"

BECK: You know, what was it, yesterday or over the weekend? Bill O'Reilly was accused of practically taking the shell casings and packing bullets, loading the gun, driving the guy to church, and killing the abortion doctor in -- what was it -- Kansas. Bill O'Reilly was -- he might as well have been the triggerman according to the left, the blogs, the media. I don't know how many -- I don't know how many stories I read that said Bill O'Reilly and me, a guy who -- I don't think I mentioned this doctor, maybe a couple of times as it related to Sebelius -- I don't even think I mentioned him by name. Somehow or another I was also responsible for his death, and the media reported that.

Well, let me ask you this. I had to really search the news long and hard to find out about the two recruiters -- the two soldiers that had been killed by the Muslim convert, that were gunned down in Arkansas. I had to really look hard for that. Is anybody asking is Keith Olbermann responsible for the death of those two soldiers? Keith Olbermann has railed against recruiters. Keith Olbermann has railed against the baby killers that our U.S. soldiers are. He's railed against this war. MSNBC was right all over the story about how our troops are torturing and killing innocents. Has anybody asked if he's responsible?

By the way, the answer is no, he's not. Has anyone asked if he's responsible? No. Why? Because it's an intellectually dishonest question. It was dishonest when they did it about Bill O'Reilly, and it's dishonest if anybody does it with Keith Olbermann. The only ones that were responsible for the guy who is killing the abortion doctor in Kansas is the guy who killed the abortion doctor in Kansas. The only one that was responsible for killing the two soldiers in Arkansas is the Muslim convert crazy nutjob that killed the two soldiers in Arkansas.

On edit: Mr. Beck, you slothful weasel. No, O’Reilly can’t be blamed directly for Tiller’s assassination. He merely entertains and encourages the people who inflame the assassins, urge them on with heated rhetoric and hatred. But I seem to recall a guy named Julius Streicher. He never touched a Jew or a homosexual, and yet his readers included those who murdered millions of them, inspired by his rhetoric. I also seem to recall that he was hanged in 1946, in spite of his defense of “free speech.”

The Nuremeberg trials made it illegal to “incite to violence”. You dont even have to directly call for violent acts. The main Nazi newspapers, never once called for direct acts of violence against Jews. It merely continually and repeatedly BLAMED Jews for everything wrong in Germany and so was held accountable for those acts.

You would have to go back 30 years to find acts of violence on the part of the left in America that caused any sort of deaths and in the majority of case, it was the left wing terrorist blowing themselve up by accident while trying to build a bomb. The LAST known radical leftist terrorist group that was intended to target people by a leftist group occured in 1975.

Since then pretty much all terrorism in or on the United States has been committed by groups that are conservative in orientation.

Like it or not, even Bin Laden and Al Qaeda are essentially right wing, conservative inspired terrorists. Your tortured attempt to draw KO into the fray is misguided and ridiculous.

And here it is on DU poster for all to trip over. Without even a line discussing your thoughts on his drivel. I guess you could qualify king of the bad analogy as your thoughts but surely you have something more to say.

4. Hey, Beck --
Please show me where KO has "railed" against recruiters or called our soldiers "baby killers" -- you can't because he hasn't, you fucktard.

14. The main difference between KO and Fox:
When KO asserts something, he either quotes a source (with dates), plays video or audio, to PROVE that he's telling the truth.

Fox Noise shills, on the other hand, just pull sh*t out of their backsides and present it to their drooling Kool-Aid drinkers as "truth".

If I were Keith, I'd tell them to either offer actual quotes/audio/video of the "baby killing troops" B.S., or threaten to sue.

Rhetorical question: For a guy who supposedly has no audience and no influence, why does the far right hate/fear him so much?

5. "The only ones that were responsible for the guy who is killing the abortion doctor" ...
someone should play him some of his old clips where he was saying things along the lines of "these unpatriotic liberals who write letters to the editor bashing our grand and glorious leader George W. Bush are committing treason, and they are directly responsible for the deaths of our fine young fighting men and women of the armed forces!"

7. Keith Olbermann DID NOT mention Private William Long and
Private Quinton Ezeagwula 28 times, he never called them killers, never accused them of executing babies and never gave out their location. He never said what he would do to them if he got his hands on them. Nor did he say this of ANY troop, Beck, you stupid twerp.

In fact, Olbermann has never railed against the troops. He's listed the dead, he's had on veterans who are working to defend the troops' healthcare and benefits upon their returning to the states and he keeps a running total of how long we've been in this war.

So, why, Beck, you insane idiot, would we hold Olbermann responsible for their deaths.

8. beck doesn't want to take my advice
I think he should give up the broadcasting gig and do the one thing he's good at; get drunk every day. He'd be far less of an embarrassment to his family.

10. This stuff is ridiculous. It reminds me when Marilyn Manson was blamed for Columbine.
Doing a story on someone is completely different then advocating for their murder. This stuff is nonsense, and intellectually dishonest.

11. When Harold Hill (as KO calls him) made this statement, it was the height of irony
because it, itself, is the height of intellectual dishonesty and disingenuousness.

12. "Keith Olbermann has railed against recruiters. "
I don't think so.

It sounds to me like he's fighting O'Reilly's fight for him; either because Bill's a wuss, or because Billo can't be seen to be getting involved in any obvious accusations about Keith. Or, maybe, Glen feels some misplaced sense of duty to Bill.

Whichever way it went down, it's just the same childish "I know you are, but what am I?" argument -- only O'Reilly (and to an extent Beck) have blood on their hands, and Keith doesn't.
