would someone please explain this to me?
from the news story on terrorist Roeder's arraignment:

http://www.kansascity.com/703/story/1229242.html

A preliminary hearing is tentatively set for June 16. Judge Warren Wilbert is assigned as the sentencing judge, should the case proceed that far.

WTF????

in what instance would the case not "proceed that far"???

2. if it doesn't, can he be arraigned on Federal charges?
I still hope this is done. That's what they did when Southerners acquitted KKK members of murdering Civil Rights workers. If memory serves, they were indicted for violations of the victims' civil rights. And the Feds got convictions. I'd like to see this nutcase charged so, and also with terrorism. I'm hoping the Feds are checking into his background and finding out who aided/abetted him.

3. 'Alledgedly'...
Sounds like another way of stating 'innocent until proven guilty' by the person writing the article.

4. I would guess
either a plea deal or he is found innocent.

5. Judge Wilbert has been assigned the SENTENCING judge.
There would need to be a conviction or a plea deal to get to sentencing. The "instance" that the case would not proceed to sentencing would be an acquittal, or dismissal. (

6. If he's found incompetent to stand trial maybe?
The man has a history of mental illness according to some news sources.

7. Dude, there not supposed to sentence him until he
is found guilty, or his guilt is otherwise established in a court of law.

10. Im guessing the date is out that far (6/16) and the "should it procede.."
is because the Feds are seriously (thankfully) taking the case.

Funny how the Arkansas (alleged , and person of color) shooter/murder is already facing , in addition to first degree murder ".. 15 counts of committing a terroristic act"...presumably one for every bullet he fired towards the building. The culprit deserves all they can get ...in BOTH cases.

11. Any Jack Ruby wannabes around?
"Lone gunmen" often just don't manage to make it to court where they might note who else was involved.

I'm just sayin'.
