Cheney is the target for the Psycho Talk segment on Ed Schultz today
Cheney blames Richard Clarke for the 9/11 attack. But Clarke's emails warning the administration about Al Qaeda's plans as "advancing" have been published. Ooops.

1. I saw a comment that Cheney is getting his insanity defense set up. :)
I thought the following was interesting, detailing Clarke's memos, from the MSNBC site.

http://boards.msn.com/MSNBCboards/thread.aspx?threadid=1132902

When the moderator reminded Cheney that Clarke had repeatedly warned the administration about al Qaeda’s determination to attack the U.S., Cheney snarkily replied, “That’s not my recollection, but I haven’t read his book.”

In fact, it was Cheney who “missed” the warning signs, not Clarke. New York Times reporter Philip Shenon’s book, “The Commission: The Uncensored History of the 9/11 Investigation,” reprinted some of Clarke’s emphatic e-mails warning the Bush administration of the al Qaeda threat throughout 2001:

“Bin Ladin Public Profile May Presage Attack” (May 3)

“Terrorist Groups Said Co-operating on US Hostage Plot” (May 23)

“Bin Ladin’s Networks’ Plans Advancing” (May 26)

“Bin Ladin Attacks May Be Imminent” (June 23)

“Bin Ladin and Associates Making Near-Term Threats” (June 25)

“Bin Ladin Planning High-Profile Attacks” (June 30)

“Planning for Bin Ladin Attacks Continues, Despite Delays” (July 2)

Similarly, Time Magazine reported in 2002 that Clarke had an extensive plan to “roll back” al Qaeda — a plan that languished for months, ignored by senior Bush officials:

Clarke, using a Powerpoint presentation, outlined his thinking to Rice. … In fact, the heading on Slide 14 of the Powerpoint presentation reads, “Response to al Qaeda: Roll back.” … The proposals Clarke developed in the winter of 2000-01 were not given another hearing by top decision makers until late April, and then spent another four months making their laborious way through the bureaucracy before they were readied for approval by President Bush.

Cheney needs to check his “recollections” before blaming former employees for the single most devestating attack in American history.

Think Progress.

4. You forgot the e-mail that Clarke titled "Three More Shopping Days 'til Bin Ladin Attacks" (Sept. 8)
with the "urgent" exclamation point tag.

And the Powerpoint for Condi where he drew a picture of a plane crashing into a tall building and keyed in under it "THIS IS WHAT WILL HAPPEN IF YOU DON'T DO SOMETHING!! HONEST!!"

Really, I wonder why Schultz doesn't just name the Psycho Talk segment of his show permanently in honor of Cheney.

11. Eleny,I googled it on the internet...........
I could find Nothing except another poster saying they saw the same 60 minutes segment before 911 and was also looking for it.It's existence evidently has been scrubbed. But I distinctly remember seeing it because it was the first time I heard of Osama bin laudin. Clark also said in that interview he was afraid of this man (Osama ). Very shortly after this segment aired we were attacked.

12. Maybe Clarke set his vcr or whatever we were using back then
I'd love to see him whip out his recording of himself. Surely he would have a video of his appearances.

Btw, he's been quiet. You just know that Rachel, Matthews and Olbermann have asked him to talk about it. He's a subtle guy and dignified. But I'm expecting his response to be a quiet doozy.

Sorry for the delay in responding. Been cleaning house almost all day. x(

6. i like the republicans and their personal responsibilty bs...
see, they take credit for anything good, and blame someone else for anything bad. that asshole went around with his mouth yammering about iraq and al quaida... iraq and 911!! even AFTER it had been proven otherwise. he kept on with it... until the other day when he said it wasn't true, and now it's the CIA's fault!! OK... now all the people bitching at nancy pelosi for saying anything bad about the CIA!! let's hear you go after cheney now. and now richard clarke was to blame for 911~~ and i like that ed schultz gave it right back.... richard clarke told them about 911... they CHOSE to ignore it and do nothing. it was THEIR job to DO SOMETHING about it!! richard clarke did his job. bush and cheney didn't do theirs. how about some friggin republican 'personal responsibility' there cheney!

8. I watched hardball earlier...
Matthews interviewed the two McClatchy reporters who uncovered how Cheney went after the CIA over and over and manufactured the reasons to go to war. And now Cheney asserts how he's the best friend the agency ever had compared to the Dems. Meh.

13. Is there any lie that is too outrageous for Cheney to tell?
What was the point of this anyway? Nobody outside of the most rabid lunatic right wingers would agree with him. And I use the word agree because even they know he's full of shit.
