Karl Rove: "Nobody who has a family member serving in the military wants a war. "

http://www.candgnews.com/Homepage-Articles/2007/04-04-07/OG-KARLROVE.asp

<snip>

“It’s the defining issue of our generation, whether we like it or not,” said Rove. “Nobody wants a war. Nobody who has a family member serving in the military wants a war. But I bet every one of you knows with absolute precision where you were on the morning of 9/11 when we were hit and we got in a war.”

He said that terrorists took the country’s measure in how it responded to attacks in the past.

“They made a determination that America was weak and confused, and unable and unwilling to respond,” said Rove.

“This president, however, said, ‘We’re going to do things differently. We will change the foreign policy of the United States.’ And it started with what’s called the Bush Doctrine. It says if you feed a terrorist, harbor a terrorist, train a terrorist, fund a terrorist, you’re just as bad as a terrorist, and we’re coming for you,” said Rove.

“We did the right thing by removing Saddam Hussein from power. He was a danger to the region. He was a danger to our security. He used weapons of mass destruction on his own people. He wanted the world to believe that he had weapons of mass destruction. The previous administration, this administration and all the major intelligence services of the world thought he had weapons of mass destruction,” said Rove.

“The enemy chose the aftermath of his fall from power to make Iraq now the central front in the global war on terror. It’s not the war we chose. It’s the front that they chose. It’s the battle they wanted,” said Rove. “We all wish global terrorism was no longer around to threaten ourselves and our country, but it would not be like the United States of America to leave our promises unkept, our friends abandoned and our own security at risk.”

2. Most of the "enemies"
the US has at the moment are a result of the invasion and occupation of Afghanistan and Iraq.

The US will stop having enemies when the US stops making them!

I don't buy huge election fraud other that liars at exit polls & lineups in poor districts in 2004. I wouldn't hold my breath of people like this telling you what you want to hear about election fraud. But this is a big loss for the WH.

7. The Bush Doctrine. Does it apply to everybody or just to some?

http://in.today.reuters.com/news/newsArticle.aspx?type=worldNews&storyID=2007-04-04T082723Z_01_NOOTR_RTRJONC_0_India-293119-1.xml

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The U.S. has been secretly advising and encouraging a Pakistani militant group that has carried out a series of deadly guerrilla raids inside Iran, ABC News reported on Tuesday, citing U.S. and Pakistani intelligence sources.

The raids have resulted in the deaths or capture of Iranian soldiers and officials, ABC reported.

The group, members of the Baluchi tribe, operates from Pakistan's gas-rich province of Baluchistan, just across the border from Iran, the report said.

ABC cited Pakistani government sources as saying the secret campaign against Iran was on the agenda when Vice President Dick Cheney met with Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf in February.

8. fallacious
What does knowing where you were on September 11, 2001 have to do with anything?

I know where I was that day so I have to support Bush's wars?

I don't think so

I know where I was that day so I just have to accept going to war for lies?

I don't think so

I didn't support Bush on Sept 10th (or a single prior)

and I didn't support Bush on Sept 11th (or a single day since)

10. Don't Confuse Greed, Arrogance and Belligerence with Strength
If anything, we may be measured as 'weak' due to Preznit Yosemite Sam failing to complete the 'job' of eliminating Osama and the Taliban and pulling troops out of Afghanistan like the Preznit said was a weakness in Beirut and Somalia. And as far as 'if you feed... harbor... train fund terrorist you're just as bad as a terrorist, and we're coming for you' - that must put Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and our own funding of Taliban related Pakistani's to engage in covert operations in Iran at the top of our 'enemies list'

12. Doing that link between 9/11 and Iraq again, I see.
"But I bet every one of you knows with absolute precision where you were on the morning of 9/11 when we were hit and we got in a war.”

Makes you wonder why the wingnuts still believe that Saddam was involved in the attack on WTC.

21. Yes Karl I remember where I was on 9/11. I also remember that it never entered my head that day or
in the following days that this meant war with Iraq. So what exactly is the point of bringing up 9/11 in the context of Iraq when even your boy Bush now admits there is no connection. Hmmmmm?
