Did Pizza Deliveryman Stumble on Rape or Consensual Bondage?
A Tennessee pizza deliveryman who found a woman bound by rope in a remote cabin in the Smoky Mountains thought he was saving her life when he called authorities after she mouthed "Call 911."

Pizza man Chris Turner was declared a hero after cops arrested David Jansen, a married father of two, for allegedly kidnapping and raping the bound woman, dismissing Jansen's claims that the two were simply on a kinky getaway.

But police investigating the case have since determined that the alleged victim has a history of making false reports of rape and being stabbed, and are now trying to determine what actually happened in the cabin in Sevier County, Tenn.

Jansen, meanwhile, had to post an $800,000 bond to get out of jail and his wife of 24 years has filed for divorce, taking their two children into hiding with her.

When asked about the previous false reports, Sevier County Sheriff's Department Capt. Jeff McCarter said, "We're investigating all aspects of the case."

That's a strange twist.

7. I don't think the wife and the woman who claimed rape are the same person
Edited on Wed Jun-03-09 10:14 AM by WeDidIt
The wife left with the kids after she found out about the arrest.

The tied up woman was not Jensen's wife.

Get it?

It was a big day here when we could dial up and get a pizza delivered. That was in the early 90s.

13. Also...
...why would a guy that is allegedly raping a woman bring someone into the mix? The story of rape has a few holes in it.

I always side with a woman in the case of rape...however, this woman has a proven track record of lies concerning the subject.

However, I do agree with another poster that at least the man's wife now knows who and what he is.

17. Wasn't the woman tied up and stuffed behind the couch?
I don't know what the truth is, here.

Maybe the woman is lying, or maybe she's a serial liar who had the misfortune to be snatched up by a pervert.

No matter what, I give the pizza guy props. He's still a hero to me, even if the rest of the players in this drama turn out to be putzes.

25. I Agree
The Pizza guy IS a hero...even if it turns out to be a consensual act. People should not be afraid to step in when something seems VERY wrong.

20. The delivery guy normally didn't go out that far.
There were other houses not far from the cabin--it's not like it was a hundred miles from anyone.

His wife drove him, too....see this article:

28. Well, if he's not an actual criminal it makes sense
People do engage in these kind of sexcapades for fun; if his story is true then taking delivery of a pizza midways through a consensual sex game just adds a naughty thrill, kind of like answering the phone during sex and holding a brief conversation.

How did the pizza guy find it? Was he a part of the act? Who gave him directions? Who owned the cabin? Something doesn't smell right.

19. are you a mystery writer?
If not, give it a try - love your immagination! I predict the next step will be that the guy in cabin will SUE the pizza company for mental anguish (time in jail, fines, and wife divorcing him). No wonder people are reluctant to help others. The "victim" mouthed "Call 9-1-1" and the pizza delivery guy did so - he is a hero to me, so if you DO write this novel, please do not disappoint.

21. That is a tourist area. I have stayed in cabins in the Smokies in that area,
and pizza delivery is common. All these cabins are rented to tourists, so the pizza deliveries have no problem finding them. They are not actually remote. They are usually just minutes away from Pigeon Forge and Sevierville.

18. If she has a history of filing obviously false police reports
for rape, why isn't she in jail?

Intentionally falsifying a police report to accuse someone you know to be innocent of a horrible crime (the stain of a rape accusation, even false, doesn't go away quickly) should carry the same penalty as the person you are accusing would have received for their "crime".

Let's hope that if this is made up, some sort of three strikes law will come in to affect and she won't be able to target innocent men any more.

And more often than not, people like that have issues.

Lets not condemn her or anyone before everything gets sorted out.

31. If she does she should still be removed from the general populace
it isn't really fair that she be allowed to torment innocent men (assuming this was false).

Plus it makes it all that more difficult for real rape victims to be believed and treated appropriately.

24. A couple of things are wrong with this picture, if this was consensual.
Let's assume for sake of argument that this wasn't a kidnapping/rape scenario and it was consensual bondage.

There's a couple of very wrong things with this if that was actually the case. First of all, was Jensen present on the scene? If not, it was really fucking irresponsible. You don't tie someone up and then leave them alone like that. Dan Savage has expounded on this several times in his column and podcast.

Secondly, even if this was "consensual", and having the stranger stumble in on this was part of the scene, it certainly wasn't consensual for the pizza deliveryman. You just don't involve other people in your scenes without permission. It's fucked up and wrong and responsible people don't do it.

Personally, without having more facts on the case, I'm inclined to believe it was just your typical Law & Order SVU shit where some asshole uses BDSM as an alibi for engaging in actual rape or assault. The alternative is that they're both really goddamn stupid, and that thought is just too depressing.

You're not supposed to tie someone up for sex play and then go off and leave them. On the other hand, he might have just visited the bathroom; the news story is lacking details.
