Arson blamed for (controversial topless) coffee shop fire (Vasselboro, Maine)

VASSALBORO -- The fire that destroyed the Grand View Topless Coffee Shop during the wee hours this morning was ruled arson this afternoon, said Stephen McCausland, spokesman for the state Department of Public Safety.

Investigators with the State Fire Marshal’s Office discovered evidence in the rubble, leading to the determination that the fire was intentionally set, McCausland said. The evidence has been taken to the state crime lab for analysis, he said.

“We are looking for anyone who may have information on this, who might have seen vehicles parked in that general area around 1 a.m. Wednesday morning or anyone walking along the roadway,” McCausland said.

Anyone with information on the fire should call the state Fire Marshal’s hotline at 888-870-6162, he said.
