Schwarzenegger: Hummers will be fuel-efficient
Schwarzenegger: Hummers will be fuel-efficient
By JULIET WILLIAMS, Associated Press Writer

Wednesday, June 3, 2009

(06-03) 16:51 PDT Sacramento, CA (AP) --

Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger is expecting improvements to his beloved gas-guzzling Hummer brand, now that a Chinese company is taking over production.

snip...
Schwarzenegger said Wednesday that he thinks the Chinese will probably convert the 15 mpg vehicle to one that gets 30 or 40 mpg in a short time.

Schwarzenegger helped popularize the brand among civilians after falling in love with it in 1991. The actor-turned politician has since become an unlikely environmental champion.

He says he's saddened that American car companies have fallen so far behind when it comes to fuel efficient technology.

2. Ain't no way a vehicle that makes 8 MPG will be made into
a 30-40 MPG vehicle and still stay a HUMMER on a humongous SUV frame and hummer body over it. Ain't no way.

3. I read about some guy about a year ago
I think it was in L.A., that does biodiesel conversions on Hummers that get 40+ mpg. About $25K per but if you got that kind of money, what the hell.

4. The Chinese government will redesign the Hummer into a military vehicle.
It's already halfway there. In the military they will not worry about gas millage. Anyone who thinks they bought the Hummer for civilian use does not know the Chinese very well. They buy our technology and improve on it. The Israelis do the same.

7. He thinks China has the technology to do that but America doesn't?

Making the hummer cost less, I can totally see the Chinese pulling off, butmaking it fuel efficient isn't going to happen.

11. filthy liar, garbage-barge escapee
I recall during his run & recall of Davis how he LIED about his Hummer switched over to bio-diesel. A gear-head openly & repeatedly offered-in public-to do it for real. Arnie=Bush, to me. He had his chance, & he chose his path; he made the gas hog Hummer available for civvies-HE COULD HAVE DONE THAT FOR THE ELECTRIC CAR!

He is a liar & does not know how to lead. He does not think of novel ways to solve current crises, he needs to concentrate on State-level & global, up front planning & less time on filling potholes.

Genuine leaders have the ability to take a complex problem & find a solution, because they can see the underlying structures, a destructive pattern, & change it. That sort of leader discards irrelevant details & goes straight to the heart.

Then there is another sort who fog out a problem, making it seem worse than it is. They can't see through the details, get tripped up by irrelevant crap & insist the minutiae is all that matters. Like the Reepublicans trying to pass a law or something to "Rename Democrats".
