Du'ers in New York State (Or those who have relatives here)
Edited on Thu Jun-04-09 08:26 AM by La Lioness Priyanka
Please call/ask relatives/friends to call NY state senators to vote for marriage equality. The senators are hearing from the bigots but not from us:

This websiste has an incredibly simple way to call your senator. We only have about 2 weeks in which to get this done. So please, please call now!!!

http://tools.advomatic.com/24/nyequality

I thank you all for your efforts. If you have relatives in NY state, please have them call their senators too

3. I got to Gillibrand and my rep (Lowey) but no answer at
Schumer's office (typical). I'll keep trying him.

NY will do this!

13. I'll check it out
I live in Albany. My state Senator is cosponsoring the bill but there are others in the area that are not supporting it, so I know there is a lot of work to do.

12. Yep, and I'll be
sending out emails to those I don't talk to.

Even most of the Repubs I know in NY are in favor of marriage equality, it shouldn't be too hard to convince them to make a few calls. :)

My state senator is a total waste of oxygen, but some others may be movable.

20. Good point, though I spent last summer showing him he had opposition...
...in the form of working my ass off for his opponent. He's one of the principal sponsors of the bill to BAN gay marriage in New York state. :eyes:

22. Dale Volker, of western New York.
Stretching across 90 miles of upstate, a nicely gerrymandered district carefully avoiding any major cities. Last year he outspend his opposition 29 to 1, but we still made it an 11 point race.

27. I noticed that Rubin Diaz refers to the issue as "homosexual marriage"
which is a rightwing buzz phrase. And this is a Democrat! unfuckingbelievable.

25. Not actually sure Mom is on board
a bit of a squishy-soft centrist, she.

As for Republican Stepdad, well, "fuhgeddaboudit". He once dropped an F-bomb (the "bundle of sticks" one) on me while I was sitting in the back seat! Had we not been in midtown traffic, just outside the Lincoln Tunnel, I would have kicked the back of his seat... :grr: :banghead:
