Norm Coleman Ready To Give Up Fight
Norm Coleman Ready To Give Up Fight, Allies Say

“National Republican Senatorial Committee Chairman John Cornyn on Wednesday suggested that former Sen. Norm Coleman's long fight was almost over, saying that he's support his old colleague "until he decides to hang it up one way or another."

Now Roll Call has reported that Coleman himself appears ready to hang it up pretty soon. While party leaders are prepared to back him in a fight to the Supreme Court, sources close to Coleman say that if he loses in the Minnesota Supreme Court he will accept the result.

Sources close to Coleman say the former Senator would likely give up his legal battle and accept defeat if the Minnesota Supreme Court decides in Franken's favor. That's because Coleman anticipates that Gov. Tim Pawlenty (R) would ultimately sign Franken's certification papers. <...>

Coleman is said to view his case as a matter of fairness based on Minnesota election law, which is expansive. The Republican is said to believe so strongly that he is in the right -- and that the results so far have resulted in the disenfranchisement of millions of Minnesota voters -- that he was willing to risk his political standing over the long term in order to see it through.

"He will be done" if he loses at the state Supreme Court, one Republican predicted.”…cont…

1. Call me cynical
but I will believe it when I see it. There is nothing that these lizard republicans might do that would surprise me.

6. I Know What You Mean
However the bottom line may be what it usually is...money. Reportedly the gophers have spent $750,000 on this and the pennies are getting tight. Also, they're beginning to consider that they should be spending that money on not losing the few seats they still hold.

4. Millions of disenfranchised Minnesota votes?
Um, no. Everyone's vote counted. The losers aren't disenfranchised. They just lost. They will all be represented by Al Franken.

What an evil, pernicious, partisan meme the former Senator is spreading.

7. Minnesotans/Minnesota are "disenfranchised" if Coleman doesn't give it up.

13. I guess he did not much care about all the dems
votes that did not get counted in 2000 and 04. When the votes were flipped or the ballots were tossed in the trash or the folks that got tossed off the voting rolls. I know most of that happened in several other states. I was too busy copin with it it in fla to worry about Minnisota.

8. Already? It has only been about 7 months since the election.
I hope that he will realize that it would be nice for Minnesota to have 2 senators.

15. He will go down in repuglican history as the man who gave Nancy Pelosi 60!
I believe that could be the worst thing a wingnut leader could possibly do. He will never recover.
