6. Does anyone have a bigger picture sense of this?

Have you heard from any "regular" people (not political and/or news geeks as we are here) as to whether or not they realize Cheney & Cheney are lying?

Do you think the talking heads on TV (can't call them reporters or journalists) are just giving them airtime, allowing themselves to hang themselves and also to fill their 24/7 news cycle?

They don't have the nerve to challenge them quite evidently, but maybe they are foreseeing the lengthy news story when charges are finally brought against BushCo? They'll have tons of footage to show of Cheney when that happens, something they wouldn't have had prior to the last six weeks.
