What about us poor folks that have nothing better to do
Than watch TV and have a couple of brews?

It wasn't long before I figured out that there is a lot of other things to occupy my time with.
These days I don't even have the time to watch tv for more than a few minutes even if I wanted to do so.

I know there's a line that goes,

"We've got...nothing better to do.
Than watch tv, and have a couple of brews."

I watch a bit of TV, but I find most of it dull and silly.

Not so free if you think about it

Libraries are often located near other amenities; you could visit the same time as your groceries. I mean, your TV isn't free either, they use quite a bit of electricity unless you have a flat screen one.

And don't you have to turn a light on to read?

During the daytime I rely on the power of the mighty Sun.

Why can't it be like any other hobby that people have?

I'm not arguing with you, but I think it's funny how television works almost like an addiction.

You could have substituted "turn off the TV" with "eat less red meat".

How else can one explain why so many people let their lives revolve around it.

Talking heads are just blowhards with opinions. I don't understand why people get so upset about some bloviator on TV or radio expressing a halfassed opinion.

TV isn't my problem, hell, that's where I go to unwind after spending all day online!

(granted, I only go there for entertainment, not news or anything)

a few stations whether you want them or not, but the only reason I own a TV is to watch DVDs and VHS tapes.

The internet and satellite radio, however, are another matter.
