Last September, our economic system was on the verge of collapse. The banks were unregulated and they took advantage of that to invest in every which way imaginable. The oil companies had their inside traders on Wall Street driving up the price of gasoline, which was a terrible hardship on most working Americans. They simply could not afford to pay 4.00 per gallon for gasoline and still survive.
It has now been almost nine months since that collapse. Where are the new regulations by Congress? Where are the rules on Wall Street that will keep the traders and Wall Street from ripping us off? I guess they have been busy doing other things? Like protecting the credit card companies and the old bankruptcy laws?
People were looking for change. They have not seen it yet. At this rate, they will never see it. If there is no health-care reform and nothing is done to rein in the banks and Wall Street, the people will have little patience with Obama and the Democrats come election time. There are minimal expectations and, at present, they are not being met. Obviously, it doesn't matter what type of numerical advantage the Democrats hold in Congress. The same special interests are still calling the shots. Or so it seems?
