Gordon Ramsey (Hell's Kitchen) calls reporter a lesbian and shows sexist picture to audience
I've never seen the program and I never will. As a woman, I'm offended on many levels by this asshole's comments.

Before an audience of several thousand people at the Melbourne Good Food and Wine Show, following an interview with Grimshaw the previous day, Ramsay described her as "a lesbian".

He then showed a picture of a woman, who appeared naked. The woman was posed on her hands and knees but had multiple breasts and the facial features of a pig.

"That's Tracy Grimshaw," he said. "I had an interview with her yesterday, holy crap. She needs to see Simon Cowell's Botox doctor."

8. Couldnt agree more...I can respect anyones opinion to dislike
or even detest his persona on TV...but he consistently has openly gay guests on and treats them with nothing but respect. This sounds like a personal feud and , if true , he said some shit that he may well already regret...bottom line is we don't know for sure.

Highly recommend his autobiography " Humble Pie" ...tear-jerking and hilarious on opposite pages.

Cheers

I like the guy and watch all of his shows (he has several) on BBC-America. He has never come across as a homophobe - But he does tend to say whatever he is thinking. I have seen the way he interacts with gay men and he is not at all nasty or "weird" ---

I think I will keep watching Ramsey.

school because he's a forthright, brutally honest perfectionist who demands their very best efforts. By the time a Hell's Kitchen season is over, the chefs who survived until the final round are usually highly capable of running one of his kitchens.

I love his looks & his strong work ethic, & I'm glad that I hadn't seen one episode of Hell's Kitchen until after I became a fan of BBC's Kitchen Nightmares, because it was the latter program that showed how caring he really is.

It wasn't until my husband & I had seen a promo for Hell's Kitchen on BBC that we had watched an episode. We looked it up online, & for one week, my husband & I saw every season of Hell's Kitchen on YouTube. We can't get enough of Gordon!

60. It is a fantastic show
he is very good to the IDIOTS on the show who have driven their restaurants into the ground by doing IDIOTIC things. He observes the situation from a patrons point of view and then goes into the heart of the restaurant, the kitchen - to uncover whatever horror awaits. I worked in restaurants for 7 years - it is hard work and there are plenty of boneheads who do not give a shit - Gordon CARES about the big picture on down to the tiny details and his ability to fix these restaurants is a wonder to behold. He only has a week to turn the place around and so he can't waste time baby sitting these people but instead must be brutally honest. He sets them straight and if they don't like it, well that is just too bad because he is right. I have never seen an episode where I disagree with the course he has taken. Some people squawk and cry about the changes but in the end they almost always come around and see it is all for the best -

If any of you haven't seen Kitchen Nightmares, take an hour and watch it. It may change the way you perceive Gordon Ramsey.

28. Have you seen "Gordon Ramsey's F Word?"
The basic premise is that he has a restaurant that serves 50 people with an amateur crew cooking three courses. But he also has segments on buying and cooking local foods, he raises his own meat animals (just a few at a time in his backyard) to teach his kids where their food comes from, and he does individual cooking bits with people.

It is a more 'people friendly' show than his others, even though he still has a foul mouth. It is on BBC America, and I don't know if it is available online.

i find this very strange, as i have personally met him and interacted with him as i worked for nike last summer. he and his wife came in and was the nicest person to ever come in and literally the only person who came over after purchase and thanked me for my help. it is against store policy to act differently around celebs or ask for pics, and i just acted as i did around all other customers; from this interaction it sounds like a personal feud and i would like to see all the facts here

33. Ramsay has a "personal feud" with the human race.
If you've ever watched even one of his shows, you would know what kind of persona he presents in public.

Now, it MIGHT be an act - kind of like the way Alan King and Don Rickles acted all cynical and hateful in their acts - but at least those guys always reminded audiences at the end they were "only kidding' and offered a dose of what comedians call "Godbless" to leave people feeling good.

The only thing Ramsay leaves you with is the inability to eat after watching.

You probably don't know who he is. Go look up the name on Wikipedia.

Then look up the number of feuds he's had with people.

"Not tolerating fools" is a wonderful means of saying "He's a man full of hatred."

You could have said just as easily, "Adolph Hitler is not an anti-Semite, he just doesn't tolerate fools."

84. Compared? Ramsay is Hitler's illegitimate son!
As Mel Brooks said in the Broadway version of The Producers, his middle name is Elizabeth. "Der Fuhrer was descended from a long line of English queens."

Why not? I think the people who watch and like Ramsay are masochists. They want someone to beat the crap out of them, as he does to everybody, because they feel they're worthless and deserve abuse. That's also why the Democrats among Ramsay fans haven't done anything about the Blue Dogs who are betraying Democratic principles. They want to suffer and be abused.

90. First off, you misread the word "queens."
If you had seen or heard the soundtrack album of The Producers,, you would understand the reference.

Second, if you have any sympathy for gay people, you might notice that this whole thing came about because he called a woman with whom he disagreed a "lesbian." Her sexual orientation wasn't any of his damn business and was taken as an insult.

Ramsay is against gay people. And straight people. And basically anything with a pulse. His inedible food is just the slightest part of that problem.

Whatever that greyish glop was that he was shoveling on a plate, served with grilled dingleberries, must have been used to torture inmates at Abu Gareb. "Here, scumbag, eat this in the name of Allah!"

Ramsay is a mountebank and a fraud. People watch him for the same reason they watch WWE wrestling, and his fans are even less intelligent than the fans of The British Bulldogs and Jake the Snake.

89. You have to look at a man's totality of his work.
You cannot beat up kitchen workers and be a great man. When you use one evil principle in one part of your life, you can't keep that evil from spreading to the other parts. Ramsay's work is inferior BECAUSE he is pond scum.

I would rather eat a meal from a person who has no artistry and is a pretentious fraud, like Rachel Rae, then get within sniffing range of Gordon Ramsay or his S-and-M kitchen of hate.

85. I know. I've seen BBC America. He's STILL a fraud.
Not only do I believe he can't cook worth a damn, I'm beginning to believe he can't feed himself.

86. And Ronald Reagan was an AMAZING President.
Come on. He's a fraud. He gets all butch and dominatrix and people fall all over themselves for him. That simply means that cooking fans are masochists at their hearts.

67. He says that
women are his favorite chefs.

He likes having women in his kitchen. He says this a lot. He has women managing his restaurants.

Hardly a sexist pig. But then you think Obama doesn't care about women.

48. On his show, he regularly calls any overweight women "pigs " "cows" "fat asses"--
he verbally abuses all of the aspiring cooks on his show (male and female). I'm shocked he's gotten away with it for this long.

56. Ever Hear Of Anthony Bourdain? He Wrote A Book- Kitchen Confidential. In that book he describes
how all head chefs pretty much dress down newbies. Rather like a drill sergeant.

I suspect Ramsay's demeanor in that show is somewhat close to the norm.

49. I've seen some of his shows and he never struck me as phobic.
I think he's adopted a bit of persona for TV, but I just have never seen him be abusive or even act differently with anybody based on sexuality or even appearance. If anything, I always kind of thought he was pretty close to the personality of several of the honest to gawd career restaurant people I've ever known.

I'm not being snarky here, but unless you have ever worked in a kitchen for any length of time you really have NO idea of what the industry is like. It really isn't about the pampered "Pepe LePue" type chef standing there in pristine whites whisking egg whites in a brass bowl that was chilled beforehand. It is ALL about a bunch of people busting ass in working conditions that are frequently miserable and dangerous--and not making a whole lot of money while they do it. It ain't pretty, and frequently it is pretty crude.

If you are working a Friday or Saturday night and you got one guy on the line who is too lazy or too f**ked up to do the job, EVERYBODY suffers and they are never quiet when they voice their misery. Similarly, when the owners come in and they start with some halfassed entree idea halfway thru the dinner rush--well--you can only imagine how well THAT goes over.

I have also seen an entire kitchen almost carry somebody out when they were sick and tried to work anyway. There is an enormous loyalty in the kitchen, and I doubt that a lot of people have any idea about that either. Ramsey has demonstrated that more than once, and I think several on here fail to give him credit for that.

While Ramsey may be too gritty for some of you to deal with, I gotta say that both he and Bourdain are guys that I could easily see myself picking up a knife and working with--and I got out of the industry a long time ago.

YMMV.

59. The guy is a fucking COOK! A COOK!
Granted a nobel profession but why are they all over TV like they are stars or something? Who the fuck can afford to eat out anyway? Who in their right mind would want to watch a bunch of cooks prepping food? It's like watching paint dry. Unless of course you throw a complete narcissist asshole with no clue how to be human into the mix. Then it's ratings heaven.

I have seen this jerk once, he made me want to puke in the first 15 seconds. Apparently my instincts were correct.

78. He's been having some money trouble for some time now.
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1159625/Gordon-Ramsays-kitchen-nightmare-restaurant-group-runs-trouble-loans.html

Closed some of his restaurants, and others lost stars.

I think TV is his main concern now, not being a restaurateur.

Not excusing Ramsey who I find creepy, but he's reflecting the general culture of professional kitchens.

72. Ramsay is not a woman hater... He just is not.
Ramsay has been involved in a series of charitable events and organisations. On 26 April 2009, Ramsay ran his 10th consecutive London Marathon, sponsoring the Scottish Spina Bifida Association.<68> In 2004, he and his wife, Tana, raised £14,000 for Tommy's. Ramsay commented: "I'm proud to have run the Marathon for Tommy's, the baby charity - their cause is one very close to my heart, especially as my own twins were born three weeks prematurely in 1999". He aims to complete ten marathons in consecutive years.
During March 2005 Ramsay teamed up with Indian chef Madhur Jaffrey to help the VSO, an international development charity group to support its Spice Up Your Life event. The charity hoped to raise £100,000 for VSO’s work in HIV and AIDS in India.<69> The Ramsays were the first couple to become ambassadors for the women's charity Women's Aid in 2005. The couple ran the Flora Families marathon <70> to support Women's Aid.<71>
The Gordon Ramsay "Buy a Brick" appeal launched in September 2004 helped the Scottish Spina Bifida Association build a new Family Support Centre and Head Office in Glasgow. In November 2007 Ramsay hosted a St Andrew's Day Gala Dinner at Stirling Castle in aid of the Association.
