I'm in Bend on days off.

I stopped by the ranger station to submit my pay sheet, and I presented my boss and the fire battalion commander the preliminary results of the linear regression analysis of the data points I described last night ("found" angle and known distance to solve for unknown distance with new "found" angle). They were ecstatic! They might keep me on. I guess my math and stats at Georgia Tech were good for something.

The highlight of my day, however, was a long soaking hot shower with real soap and real shampoo. Nick is relaxing in his own queen bed at La Quinta. He watched the Weather Channel all day while I was running errands.

I'm supposed to have tomorrow off too. But my relief is also a USFS firefighter and she has training tomorrow. They might send me back to the lookout tomorrow morning if there is lightening tonight. So far .. so good. Otherwise, I'll get back up there tomorrow afternoon.

I get paid OT for days off worked. Not that I am doing it for the money .. bwaa ha ha ha! It does pay for the summer plus a little in the bank.
