Obama: "If we don't get it done this year, we're not going to get it done."

Was this

- about repealing dejure or defacto DADT?
- about repealing DOMA?
- about SCOTUS appointments?

No. No because in these cases it's clearly not true. Obama was speaking about public option health care.

No. Obama has no fierce urgency of now about GLBT issues. Not in calendar 2009.

2. He'll deal with it after healthcare. If you don't like that
You're just going to have to stay pissed. You can't have all these battles at one time.

he sold out on healthcare. He was for single payer before it served his interest to be against it. And health care isn't the only thing he has sold out on. FISA and telecom immunoity as another example.

As things currently stand I'm going to have a difficult time voting in 2012 - much less voting for this president to be re-elected. He has done nothing to advance or protect my interests. And there is little indication that he is going to do so.

6. Then don't vote. Obama was never for single payer during his presidential campaign
His healthcare plan was clearly on his website throughout the campaign. And he voted for FISA before the election. So your rant makes little to no sense.

8. Ummmm......
Obama was for single payer before it served his desire for position and the personal power and prosperity it brings.

Obama has demonstrated a loyalty to corporations and bankers at the expense of flesh and blood citizens. No reason for me to advance someone who does not advance or protect my interests. Unless that changes he can pack up and move in 2012.

9. That wasn't in his Presidential campaign. That was during his Senate campaign
Don't let those pesky facts get in the way of your argument. Obama ran for President for 2 yrs. And you knew his Healthcare plan before you voted. If you bothered to read it.

10. Ummmm......
I don't give a damn when the video was made. Point is he was for single payer before it no longer served his interest and desire for higher position. He sold out. Plain and simple.

3. Priorities have to get set.
And some issues will be ahead of others in the line. Health care is a higher priority for me too, and I suspect the majority of Americans as well.

Having said that, the Congress is where bills originate and are passed, and all the Congress has to do is pass the DADT and DOMA repeals on their own, and I'm sure that Obama will be happy to give them his John Hancock.

7. I swear right here and now.
If we don't get a single payer plan out of this I will only vote Socialist, Communist or Greens from now on. I'm not giving my vote to the Democrats just for the sole purpose of keeping the Republicans out of power.

12. WE? The puppets-puppets? Love or hate the Pres., he is...
but an essential player in the game as are the rest of us. The "we" he speaks of have virtually no real power, beyond the power to celebrity worship that is.
The controlling society, no more than 3 or 4 percent of the population, remains in control of the strings regardless of who sits on the Presidents throne.
Real reform of any sort will not happen unless they are the primary beneficiaries!

As it stands, why would I ever bother to vote in a Presidential election again?
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

"It may be that we are puppets-puppets controlled by the strings of society. But at least we are puppets with perception, with awareness. And perhaps our awareness is the first step to our liberation."
