HILARIOUS!!! - Scarborough Left SPEECHLESS!!! - by Lawrence O'Donnell)
Edited on Wed Jun-10-09 10:15 AM by kpete
GREAT!!!!VIDEO:
http://thisweekwithbarackobama.blogspot.com/2009/06/lawrence-odonnells-opening-classic.html

The Huffington Post columnist (one of the few things still excellent on that site) commenced his critique of Scarborough by being funny and not playing into a temperament that will be discussed further down low. Brought on to discuss his criticism of Scarborough's "The Last Best Hope", a guide on how Republicans can lie back into prominence in all honesty, O'Donnell is hilarious in bringing up how Scarborough used the word "crisis" back to back on page 126 in his book.

"To be fair, it's a first edition, it happens in first editions." Hilarious indeed, and utterly embarrassing.

Then O'Donnell gets into his conservative smackdown (which it was) by mentioning how liberals how made the ultimate difference in this country:

"Liberals ended slavery, liberals got woman the right to vote, liberals created Social Security, Medicaid and a minimum wage, they wrote the Civil Rights Act, , the Voting Rights Act, the Clean Air Act, the Clean Water Act, they have done all of those things in at every moment, for every one of those things in this country, what did conservatives do, they opposed every one of those things, including your right to vote (pointing at Mika)."

All Scarborough could do is look at the camera, and bring distortions of a narrative which O'Donnell thankfully corrected.

14. I was in Target yesterday and there is a Starbucks inside

I went over to the manager and told him that Starbucks was sponsoring a program on TV that says unkind things about Democrats.
I told them that I would not visit their Starbucks and to tell the Starbucks rep that I said it.

Today I sent a message on their site that I have switched to Monster coffee drinks and to a local coffee shop until they pull their adds from "Morning Joe".

29. Hah
Actually it is hillarious. Joe wanted to use his own show to plug his book possibly because he couldn't get the plug he wanted anywhere else and he gets ambushed and his whole thesis (tired and dreadful as it is) gets totally ignored to the point where he has to try to rbing it up constantly.

3. Damn. This isn't what I heard on Morning Joe
I had to leave for work and missed O'Donnell, who I love. Love. Instead, I heard Joe saying he was attacked by the "very angry man" Jon Stewart because Stewart has a "Napoleonic Complex." Of course, Chicken Joe didn't play The Daily Show clip, which was hilariously cutting. He didn't say "why" Stewart slammed his show. Unless you accept Scarborough's reason that it's because Stewart is short. PLEASE MSNBC, replace this egotistical lightweight who won't shut up with O'Donnell. Please. Please. Please.

4. Matthews Said Joe New Spokesperson
for the GOP....possibly.

Move over Rush, Newt, and other balding, old white men (O'Donnell's words) Scarborough is here to save the day according to co-worker Chris Matthews.

7. Yeah, I really think conservatives will come away from this thinking Joe won and liberals thinking..
Lawrence won and there will be no impact. From the thread title, I got the impression that there would be at least 20 seconds of complete silence or something truly astonishing. This just looked like typical political theatrics.

25. Of course, he didn't say WHY..
all he could do is whine and call Jon names. Hope Stewart has a comeback for him. Don't know if he really wants to get into it with Jon a la tucker on crossfire.

21. "Rebutting" simply means to oppose by contrary evidence.
He gave a list of bills that were signed by Republican presidents in rebuttal to O'Donnell's claims that these same legislative items were written by liberals. Scarborough was making the wrong argument in rebuttal (as O'Donnell pointed out quite clearly), but Scarborough was not speechless.

17. Actually, he 'sort of' refuted every point.
He talked over O'Donnell stating the obvious truth .... that cowardly or unprincipled, and certainly not conservative, repubican presidents signed the laws as written by Democratic congresses.

26. O'Donnell started strong, the Scab lied and shouted him down, and O'Donnell never recovered.
Scab had the last, lying word and won a TKO. Disappointing. Hoping Jon Stewart eviscerates him tonight.

6. Thank you Lawrence - we need more fighting liberals
i LOVE THIS QUOTE !!! (and hope to hear it repeated often : - )))

9. i'm sorry i missed it. more folks ought to be saying it. we tend to just take for granted
the things that someone had to fight for. I would like someone to say that if voters had had the ability to vote on getting rid of slavery or a woman's right to vote... we wouldn't have either.

mostly Deflection...

The Conservative Record over the past 50 years is one of Horror.....

THEY GOT THEIR CLOCKS CLEANED IS WHOT.

Enough People realized the Pubs at the Helm of out National Ship...had abused the Leadership and ran the Ship hard aground

Joe is on the Losing side of things....so is the GOP and their Conservative Brand...

16. Was he "speechless"? That's what I was addressing.
He wasn't. Disagree with him, sure, but he wasn't speechless.

And to one of your other points (if a certain political philosophy is so good why do they lose elections?)...we wouldn't have been saying that in 1980, 84, 88, 2002, 04, etc... Be honest.

The man just blathers on all the time. He gets decent, thoughtful people on his show. And then he doesn't let them talk.

20. For a few moments, Scab was speechless...as L O fed him a list of what Liberalism
did for America over the past 100 years...

Then Scab went into blathering empty language shit...

Democrats lost many elections in the past for sure...despite having a better Philosophy...their benevolent message were drowned out

by the GOPs sneaky tactics which explains the Bush Years.....in doing the Lie Cheat Steal thing..coupled by Cronyism and Peterism

in the Bush Administration, the GOP has revealed the weakness of its philosophy....their results are stunning in Failure
