"traditional" racists/white supremists versus the "fundie" racists/white supremists

I'm puzzled about one thing.

Is it the whole Rapture thing that has Freepers supporting Israel?

Old-school racists/white supremists hate Jews, as evidenced by today's shooting. But those we refer to as fundies support Israel (perhaps they support the nation and not the people?), saying Obama's speech last week put Israel in danger, that he slammed Israel, supported terrorists, etc., etc. (Obviously that's their warped perspective, not reality.)

Is belief in The Rapture the difference between old-school racists and fundie racists, as this belief requires support of Israel?

1. There is a demographic that supports Israel because...

basically the rise of Israel stands between them and the eventual rapture. It's not that they care about Jews. It's just one of those annoying boxes that's got to be checked because their magic book said so.

3. Fundies support for Israel is self-serving

They absolutely depend on Israel to fulfill their prophecies, so that Jesus can come and rapture them all to Heaven. Of course, if you ask many fundies, they'll tell you that any Jews that don't accept Christ as their personal savior are doomed to hell anyways. So their support for Jews and Israel is only out of pure selfishness. Otherwise, they'd hate them just as much as they hate Muslims - maybe even more, because of the whole "they killed Jesus" thing.

they need the destruction of Israel to herald the apocalypse.
