Maybe I am 'out there' but I get a feeling that the first shots of
what may be an insurrection have been fired in the past couple weeks.
Jeez just in time to scare people so they forget about health care.

1. A bunch of lone wolf nuts with guns and programming from hate media.
Edited on Wed Jun-10-09 02:41 PM by tekisui
We really have no way of knowing how many are out there, but they are not organized.

2. um...I am going to have to disagree. I think they are VERY organized, like terror cells
are you forgetting the phone number of Operation Rescue in the terrorist's car on the tiller shooting?

or the fact that within hours of TIller's murder, in Dayton Ohio I saw a Truck completely covered in celebration signs of his murder, that had to have been painted at least days ahead of time?
Or the fact that O'Reilly has been whipping up the hatred against Tiller for months and months?

yes, virginia, there IS a conspiracy.

6. no, unfortunately didn't have a camera handy, but I can describe it:
It was a pickup with plywood panels on sides and back, with a panel sign sticking out on top. The panels were of a black background with white letters.
On the back was a painted portrait of Tiller, with the words "Tiller the Killer is finally executed!" or words to that effect. The poster on top was a painting of an aborted fetus, with some sort of birther slogan (sorry I don't remember exactly. I was stopped at a red light and the truck drove past me, left to right, HONKING).
On the sides were other slogans about how abortion is murder, with a scripture thrown in, I think. The plywood panels HAD to have been painted ahead of time (for example, the portrait of tiller as a demon had to take some time to execute)

The panels were the size of a full plywood panel you might see at a hardware store and dwarfed the truck they were attached to.

It was disgusting, and I felt like reporting them as terrorists to the police, but I don't think that would have accomplished anything.

This was at the intersection of Wilmington Pike and Dorothy Lane in Dayton, Ohio, the day of the murder, only about 3 hours after the murder, so that get up was in PREPARATION of the event.

Methink Operation Rescue members had access to what was going to happen.

Like I said, that is messed up, but I guess it's not entirely surprising either

11. That is horrible about the truck.
I accept your point. I hope they are all being investigated.

4. We knew this kind of hatefulness was being encouraged.

I don't see it as insurrection as much as logical consequence. This country is going to pay a price for not responding to hate speech for the last 20 odd years. :(

5. Insurrection? A mouth breathing asshole who murders a doctor in church, and a demented geezer
Edited on Wed Jun-10-09 03:16 PM by MADem
with handicapped plates shooting up a museum?

If those are the forces of "insurrection," it's a pretty anemic effort.

I don't think people are scared, I think they're pissed.

8. i would have to agree
i think there are some deep seated hatreds and with the election of a black president, turbulent economic times, etc some of these haters (speaking of the mouthpieces of rescue and such) are using the tension of the times to provoke. the unstable ones are unfortunately the easiest to coerce into action.

10. Hmm ... I didn't say that was the whole of it - just the sparks
that may ignite the next shooting and the next beating and groups forming. There is a ton of unchanneled hatred out there looking for a bit of guidance, someone to take that first step.
I think people are pissed also, but I have been amazed at what 24 X 7 X 365 hate media can foment.

13. You never know--I get the feeling, though, that "decent" people won't be putting up with this crap.
And I think there are more decent people than jerks...by a long shot. Maybe it will make people wake up and start discussing and confronting some of these prejudiced people and their attitudes, instead of tiptoeing around them.

I am an optimist. I do think we're mostly good folk--but a few jerks sure can ruin our day.

7. I don't watch cable news but it sounds like the corporate media is hyping the shooting big time
Edited on Wed Jun-10-09 03:15 PM by earth mom
which means that all that hate is going to be embraced by the nutcases in this county.

This whole thing makes me wonder why they clamped down on the video that the Virginia Tech shooter made a couple of years ago.

On that tape, wasn't he raging about * & Co & the government and blaming them for his actions?

Yet now it appears that the powers that be want this disgusting hatred of Jews to be heard loud and clear. :wtf:

p.s. I have no doubt that the corporate media whores are also hyping this as yet another distraction to scare people into forgetting about health care, the Iraq war, and the billions the government has stolen from the people and given to the banksters. :grr:
