Holocaust Museum shooter James Von Brunn's ex-wife says his racism 'ate him alive'
<snip>

"The ex-wife of the racist who stormed the U.S. Holocaust Museum described him as an abusive alcoholic whose hatred against Jews and blacks "ate him alive like a cancer."

"It's all he would talk about," the ex-wife said of James von Brunn, 89, who was wounded in a firefight with museum guards.

"When I questioned him, he would get very angry and abusive."

The woman, who asked that her name not be used, said when she learned von Brunn allegedly acted on his anti-Semitic impulses, she thought about something he used to say when they were married.

"He used to make the statement that he was going out with his boots on," she said."

12. From wikipedia:
"To "die with one's boots on" means to die from violence as opposed to from natural causes (to "die in bed")."

8. It could turn out that he was recently diagnosed with a terminal illness.
"He used to make the statement that he was going out with his boots on," she said."

The thought crossed my mind earlier, but her statement tends to reinforce it. Why else would an 89-year-old man finally decide to act on a lifetime of hatred?

18. I love the Michael Bolton song 'Everybody's crazy'
Don't you know that the mentally ill are more likely to be VICTIMS of violence than perpetrators of it? Think of the homeless person stumbling down the street mumbling to himself. Then think of the supposedly sane group of young thugs who beat him up or douse him with kerosene and start him on fire just for kicks. Then think of Bush and Cheney who are seemingly sane, but kill hundreds of thousands in Iraq just to reap the war profits.

And we elected a black President, and he is a democrat. OMG. I'm sure something finally got to him from Hannity, or Rush.

and he rots in jail for whatever life he has left.

he went to jail for an (attempted) act of right-wing terrorism.

15. "Ex-wife" - Says it all.
Edited on Wed Jun-10-09 04:04 PM by DinahMoeHum
"Alienation of affection" and all that jazz.

(snip)
She married von Brunn in the mid-1960s and they divorced 10 years later. She said he sipped red wine all day and frequently lashed out with verbal assaults.

"He would talk about what the world would become in 20 or 30 years - that most of the country would be governed by black governors and that the Jewish people owned the media," the ex-wife said.

"That's why I divorced him - because he was eaten alive with a cancer with this matter."

(snip)

19. It does? I have TWO "ex-wives" ... and no intention to shoot anyone.
Both marriages ended due to "incompatible sleeping habits" (they were sleeping with other men).

How about taking that broad brush and shoving it where the sun don't shine?

I could be wrong but I don't think the poster was saying his ex wife caused him to kill. I think the poster was saying that the ex wife gave us his reason for killing.

31. I think the point was that almost anybody's ex will say horrible things about them.
Mine would probably swear that I kidnapped the Lindbergh baby, if you asked.

Not that this guy's not a nutter of the first order, but I'd hate to judge anybody by what their ex says about them.

16. That's the effect of participating in the hate culture.
You find at a lot of those sites. I'm not surprised about his FreeRepublic posts. Its like a drug, really. The high is redirection away from the fact that life is difficult because its difficult, instead with hate you get relief, the idea that there is this one person or group who is preventing life from being good. Its easy. Its not your fault. It takes the blame away from faceless existence, it take your focus away from the load of hard work it actually takes to make things better.

To hell with hate.

32. I can't believe I'm saying this but I hope he lives
Not so much for humanity's sake -the world would be a better place for not having him in it -but just so his sick, perverted dream of going out in a blaze of glory is not fulfilled and so he can spend the rest of his life staring at the bars of a prison cell.

I can feel no compassion, mercy or sympathy for this creep or any of his fellow idiots.
