A Republican comeback in 2010?

1. They were reacting to this:
http://briefingroom.thehill.com/2009/06/10/cantor-says-gop-will-take-back-house-in-2010/

Cantor says GOP will take back House in 2010

But it would only require a 40-seat gain.

3. These seem based on an assumption that a GOP congress is 'natural'
As if a dem congress is somehow an aberration and the GOP being in charge is somehow normal.

Well.

1. Demographics are shifting everywhere for the dems and against the GOP. The GOP is the party of white, married, christian, male social conservative people. The dem party is home to youth, social liberals, non-marrieds, non-whites, women, secularists.

Basically every demographic that empowers the GOP is shrinking, every one that empowers the dems is growing. We are becoming a more and more secular, tolerant, non-married, financially insecure nation. So demographics work against the GOP. It is hard to be the party of 'the man' when more voters are being kicked rather than doing the kicking.

2. How the fuck is the GOP going to win back 40 seats in the house, or 10 seats in the senate? Didn't they just spend the last 100 days trying to bring down the country so they could say 'I told you so'? What reason is there for anyone who pays attention to vote for them?

5. It's really impossible
There would have to be some major disasters for that to happen and so far Obama has done really well and I only see him doing better and better. By the then, the economy could be looking up and Obama and the Democrats might have some pretty good achievements under their belt. Besides, the only thing the Republicans can do now is talk crazy and I don't see that changing any time soon.
