Poll question: What's the best example of a misnamed party?
Glenn Beck and his guest were saying Nazis are leftists since Nazi means "National SOCIALIST(!!!!1111!!!!!!111!!!)"

Since names obviously reflect what the party stands for...

Pick the craziest one!

1. I'd say the Nazi party is the worst.

Before that, Nazi could have meant a completely different thing entirely. Now, National Socialist will always mean Nazi murderers.

Not to mention they basically made it impossible to ever use the reverse swastika ever again.

4. Yes, the National Socialist Party
There was nothing "Socialist" about it. In fact, the first people to be killed were the actual socialists.

6. Tupperware party.

If you think sitting around watching someone "burp" a plastic food storage container is a party, then you are seriously socially deprived.

:)

7. "Democratic Leadership Council"
They aren't Democrats, and they couldn't lead their way out of a wet paper bag.

8. Republican party
after George Bush, its obvious they are actively opposed to republican-style governance, and would rather have a fascist style government. On the other hand, the Conservative Party of South Africa is very accurately named; I would expect a Conservative party to violently support an apartheid system.

10. One good example: 'Liberal Democrats' as the name of the Conservative Party in Japan
Edited on Thu Jun-11-09 08:02 AM by LeftishBrit
And, for that matter, 'New Labour' in the UK. 'Old Tories' would be a better name for them.

12. Libertarian Party. Constitution Party. Parties with freedom in their names that follow dictators.
As far as USA political parties go:

1) Libertarian Party.

I don't find "free" market corporatism particularly liberating. Or child labor.

2) Constitution Party.

Utterly amazing that a bunch of theocrats would have the chutzpah to name themselves for a document that enshrines the separation of church and state. Baffles the mind.

3) Party for Socialism and Liberation; Freedom Socialist Party.

The PSL are Leninists. The FSP Trotskyists. You're not fooling anyone.
