Huckabee warns GOP of "mushy middle"
Edited on Wed Jun-10-09 11:42 PM by Cresent City Kid
OKOBOJI, Iowa - Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee warned Republicans Wednesday against moving to the "mushy middle," arguing that only clearly stated conservative policies can bring the party back to power.

Huckabee spoke during his second trip to Iowa since he won the 2008 Republican caucuses. That win was the high point of his bid for the Republican presidential nomination, which ultimately went to Arizona Sen. John McCain.

"I hear people who give advice that the Republicans need to moderate. They need to be a little more to the left," Huckabee said in an interview with The Associated Press. "It sounds like advice that Democrats would give to us so that we'd never win another election ever."

Some argue that Republicans have lost Congress and the White House because they've turned the party over to social and religious conservatives, driving away moderates and independents. Huckabee made precisely the opposite argument.

Remember the scene in Blazing Saddles where the black family does the circle the wagons move with one wagon? GOP stands for "Get Out Progressives!"

(edited for spelling and disgust of Huckabee ad to your right)

1. um
maybe they should actually look at what people think. That "mushy middle" is also known as "the majority of conservatives"

4. Huckabee warns GOP of "lack of ideas"
OKOBOJI, Iowa - Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee warned Republicans Wednesday that the Republican Party has run out of any ideas that can be considered a solution.

Some argue that Republicans have lost Congress and the White House because they've turned the party over to social and religious conservatives, driving away moderates and independents. Huckabee made precisely the opposite argument.

"We need an idea. Please someone give me one! We can't win without an idea!" -- Mike Huckabee

6. Don't you love the "some argue" paragraph?
By "some argue" they mean general consensus. "Huckabee made precisely the opposite argument." That they got right.

7. Republican multi-tasking...
cutting the legs out from under while the upper half undergoes multiple explosions. There's no science that will enable identification of the corpse when they're finally finished with it.

If there were ever a better case for euthanasia....

9. Thinking like this is precisely why the GOP lost big-time
They're so insane, they think Bush wasn't a "real" conservative. They're so in love with their own greed, they refuse to listen to reason.

If they keep up at this rate, they may not win the WH again until Meghan McCain is old enough to run for President.
