Shepard Smith says Holocaust Museum Shooting reminds him of the DHS report
Edited on Wed Jun-10-09 11:58 PM by democracy1st
Shepard Smith seems to understand what we've been saying for a long time.

Smith says Holocaust Museum shooting "reminds me" of the DHS report on "crazy extremists"; Herridge concurs.

Janet Napolitano apologized for the DHS report on right wing extremism after being hammered relentlessly by the Limbaughs and Hannitys. How long before right wing talkers try to blame liberals for targeting their hate speech? How long before FOX News has a little talk to Smith? Naw, he got a big contract recently. Nevermind.

Fox News’ Shep Smith: DHS Report Was A ‘Warning To Us All,’ But ‘The Right Went Absolutely Bonkers’
This afternoon, a gunman — reportedly white supremacist James von Brunn — shot and killed a security guard at the Holocaust Museum in Washington. Discussing the shooting, Fox News’ Shepard Smith reminded the audience that when the Department of Homeland Security released a report warning of violent, right-wing extremists earlier this year, “the right went absolutely bonkers!” He called the report a “warning to us all,” and said DHS was “warning us for a reason.” Watch it:

Southern Povery Law Center’s Heidi Beirich told Smith that the shooting is a reminder of the real danger extremists and “crazies” pose to the U.S.:

SMITH: There’s these crazies out there. And we know it’s absolutely — there is no truth whatsoever — zero to any of those ideas. Yet, they live within the computer and they fester within people’s minds.

BEIRICH: Shepherd, you’re hitting the nail on the head. We’re extremely concerned about these kinds of crazed conspiracies, whether they’re about the President, or the fact — we’re hearing things like FEMA setting up camps to round up Americans and put them in. I’m getting bad sort of deja vu from the 1990s, when anti-government militias were on the rise, when Tim McVeigh committed that violence in Oklahoma City. I’m really hoping we’re not going through a repeat of that.

3. That apology .......
She should NEVER have done that. NEVER.

You cave into these fuckers, and you're dirt. She made a big mistake when she did that.

Now it's proven, sadly, to be perfectly correct. And if we ignore it again, we're as stupid as the freepers...............

5. Why do Democratic office holders have to apologize to those people?
I don't get it. Have any of the RW types in office or not ever apologized for anything??? Is the GOP holding Dem family members as hostages? This is something future historians will have a field day trying to figure out.

6. Consider George W. Bush .........
That fucker couldn't even think of any mistake he'd made. The concept of apology is foreign to all of them because they cannot imagine that they ever do anything wrong. So much for that Deadly Sin of Pride, right?

I'm so sick of Democrats dropping to the floor and assuming the doormat position so quickly and so willingly whenever they're challenged. They do it routinely, and it drives me nuts. It's some kind of stupid pathology that permeates the whole bunch of them (not me), and it's nothing but destructive.

I got a bit of hope when Obama answered, to some sort of minor challenge to something he'd done, with two words - "We won."

I'd like to see more of that attitude in my Democratic pols. I'd like Napolitano to come out tomorrow holding a copy of that report, and retract her apology, adding that she erred in making it, that she knew it was good and valid information, that recent tragic events have borne that out, and then wrap it up by THANKING THE BUSH ADMINISTRATION, UNDER WHOSE AEGIS THE REPORT WAS COMMISSIONED.

Should I hold my breath until that happens?

4. There is a pattern folks
Rick Sanches was also hammering the internal terrorism meme today (and he was right)

In fact, only our lovely MSNBC didn't go really there.

Not that all media is going there, but some are.

Perhaps we are seeing the veil come off... and yes internal terrorism, or an active insurgency... to use the correct term, can be scary.
