Glenn Beck just said California would save money if it had the death penalty
Executing criminals is cheaper.

He really did just say that.

13. he probably bases it on the fact that Manson is still alive ...
because CA didn't have the Death Penalty at that time.

But yeah ... facts are an inconvenience for Beck ...

9. Beck wants CA's image to be one of complete liberal disintegration
so he can gossip about it

2. Facts never seemed to keep him from spewing his theories.
And, given his world view, if he had his way there wouldn't be any trials or appeals, so he'd be right.

4. what an idiot....
First of all, utilizing the death penalty for economic reasons is barbaric and disgusting. Secondly, life imprisonment is cheaper than the inevitable appeals process associated with death penalty cases.

6. We have a death penalty; not that we are proud of it.
These guys just keep goin' & goin' on their bunny energy and they are far more stupid than any rabbit.

8. California wastes a fortune on the death penalty
I don't even want to imagine how much California has wasted on capital punishment,

10. There isn't any part of that statement that is factually correct.
Even for Beck, that is profoundly stupid. The death penalty is incredibly expensive and costs far more than life in prison. That's one of the most basic arguments against it that almost everyone knows. California also has the death penalty. Anyone that followed the lead up to Tookie Williams execution would have known that.

14. Facts don't matter, of course, but the death penalty is much more expensive than a life sentence
How many $25 an hour prison guards do you hire compared to the $1000 an hour attorneys? The ABA reports that locking murderers up for life is far less expensive than using capital punishment. But then, maybe Glenn Beck is talking about dropping the legal pretense of a system of appeals and stays of execution. I guess if you just take 'em all out into the parking lot and pop a cap in their skulls without legal recourse, you'd save money. You'd save money if you did that for criminals other than murderers, like drug dealers, con artists, gamblers, and jay walkers.

In fact, I just of a way that Fox News Network could save a lot of money in its human resources department.

15. Uh.... Let's see...
we do have the death penalty.

And as most people who can read know, it is more expensive to put someone to death than keep them alive in prison.

What an idiot.
