1. PNHP is not as large,
but they have 15 or 16 thousand doctors in favor of a Single Payer Universal Health Care system.

Seems to me the AMA is like big Pharma (although I don't know if there is anything such as little Pharma - perhaps big is redundant).

I have to tell you - I'm tired of fighting the giants.

2. It's crazy isn't it?
Edited on Thu Jun-11-09 07:08 AM by Crazy Dave
Even with insurance, a $7000 medical bill I had two years ago didn't get paid by the insurance company and the hospital threatened me with collections and legal action for a seven hour emergency room visit. They wanted the entire $7000 up front and no payment arrangements.

Six months and 200 phone calls and letters, later the insurance company paid $1900 of the $7000 and the hospital said they would "write the rest off".

3. Many people have become vastly wealthy in the health care industry
...hospital execs, insurance industry and docs....

They are nervous.

4. Bingo...
Remember, many doctors now belong to HMOs and PPOs...they're, in essence, employees of the insurance companies. Many work off the referals and don't want to see the status quo upset.
