"Morning Joe" is damn near pleasant when Joe's not there.
I don't know where he was during most of today's show but even Mika's IQ seems to rise when he's gone.
Unfortunately he seems to be back for the final half hour.

1. Can you tell me what was the joke about Miss California that Sebelius made?
I got up a bit late and only heard the tail end of her remark and then laughter...

3. Missed that but there were a lot of jokes about how unimportant the Miss California story was.
It was unusually reflective.

2. I've noticed that too.
Joe must be the "special spice" that gives the program its usual rancid flavor.

4. Well they kept harping on Letterman and Palin...not realizing that Palin
makes her living on saying how much better she is as a republican who has family values yet her family is a mess.
She says she's a christian and that makes her better equipped to be VP but yet they are the ones with the misguided spending and act like big shots whenever given the chance.

Then Mika tried to out a Democrat's child who had a problem with drugs....but Dems never act like they are more perfect than anyone where family values are concerned so their business needs to stay private.

That is what pisses me off about those fuckers on Morning Joe. They aren't smart enough to see a situation in total. They are like a starving dog with a bone...only focused on the bone till it is gone and then they are focused on the next bone.

Fuckers.

6. Thumbs up for Donny Duetsch!
He said as a rich person he's willing to pay more taxes so we can all have health insurance.

7. You're right about Mika. She's like an abused wife.
When Joe isn't around, she actually has something substantive to say. When he's there, she refers to herself as "Mommy" and does a perfect imitation of a 1950's sitcom wife, all smiley deference and cutesy poo "Oh, well, I don't know" and "isn't that interesting!" Here are some cookies.
Or, rather, here's some Starbucks. We're really just an infomercial. And I'm a hostess, not a journalist.

12. But did you notice also that she gets in her role as shrew when she can?
She did that today with the Sarah Palin thing. Her eyes narrowed, she pursed her lips, frowned and started in about poor Sarah having to defend her family. Yeah, right, Mika, and if she had said "Thanks but no thanks" to McCain as his running mate, she wouldn't have to answer ANY questions about her kid's unwed pregnancy. Boo the effin' hoo...

15. Palin is tricky on many levels
as a feminist, I hate to see women judged differently than men when it comes to parenting. We don't challenge the parenting skills of Joe Biden. Yet Palin's mothering abilities were open to hostile scrutiny. I'm hostile to her mothering. Why? Because she made her pregnant daughter the focus of worldwide attention. She knew the girl was pregnant, she said she told McCain Bristol was pregnant BEFORE he chose her. And she put the girl up on a stage where she could be judged by millions of people. I'm not saying the girl needs to be publicly shamed. She's a normal teenager. But why put a person already in a difficult situation into the red hot media glare of a national presidential campaign? I question that decision.

17. Palin sold herself as a Hockey Mom.
Palin is the one who brought her skills as a mother into the debate.

18. Right. Which makes her all the more double-edged
In our bizarro world, this mother who doesn't hesitate to use her children as the means to her end is beloved by those claiming to be the most family oriented Americans. Yet those of on the left, who are portrayed as self-centered and careerist, view her failure to put the welfare of her children, specifically a vulnerable teenaged girl, ahead of her ambition as signs of a narcissistic personality. She claimed that Bristol and Levi were in love. They weren't. She claimed they would be married. They didn't. She had Levi flown in to sit beside Bristol at the convention and to stand on stage in front of millions of viewers. Why? For herself. This was pure exploitation of her child.

13. Mika is a conservative
She just pretends to liberal to give Joe a foil to knock down. And she does all that cutesy stuff many times when Joe is not around.

8. Joe is probably hiding out -- he's pretending to be busy
hoping that people forget about John Stewart pointing out that he insulted their new sponsor, Starbucks.

No Barnacle, Buchanan, Joe. Clyde or whatever big mouth from yesterdays name is. It was almost like a decent show.

11. Did anyone notice how defensive Mika got about Palin?
Donny Deutsch and Arianna Huffington were criticizing Palin for over reacting to Letterman. Mika just sat there steaming then finally jumped in sternly to defend Palin.

14. Double charging Starbucks sponsoring Double Talking
"journalists." Starbucks accidentally charged as many as one million customers twice for their purchases over a recent two-day period. U.S. and Canadian customers who used a debit or credit card on Friday, May 22, and part of Saturday, May 23, were accidentally charged twice for their purchases.

This is the problem with having people posing as journalists, (Mika gives "newscasts"), who are also promoting products. Do they cover a negative story about their sponsor?

Did Morning Joe cover the Starbucks double-charging story? And, since they continue to push Starbucks on their show, why the attacks on The Daily Show for pointing this out? If the Starbucks stuff is a joke, as Joe and Mika maintain, a joke that Stewart "didn't get." Then why the continuation of prominently pushing Starbucks every day? Why the Starbucks cups and why is Mika saying "Morning Joe, brewed by Starbucks."
Joking?

Very strange mix of news, "jokes", and infomercial.

16. Morning Joe is on from 3-6 a.m. here
I read a lot about it and would love to watch it, but I'm not up that early. I wish they'd replay it for those of us in Western time zones.
