WHAT IF VON BRUNN HAD BEEN A MUSLIM?

If radical Muslims had carried out terrorist attacks in Kansas and Washington DC over the past five days, we might be trying to pass legislation giving the president the legal authority to place people in preventive detention, and Daniel Pipes would be implying that we need to round up Arab-Americans (correction: Muslims) and put them in relocation camps.

But it was only a couple of old white guys, so our civil liberties remain unthreatened.

17. Police are already "aware" of that we have a mosque here...
Not all cops are chomping at the bit, but some of their "concern" concerns ME.

There concern was brought out AFTER the Tiller assassination. I wonder if they would be as concerned about our several Methodist Churches from this point on. (I realize this is comparison is one that does not follow).

My point is there is more interest in preventing "the war on terror" because we have a mosque in our community than there is interest in domestic acts of terrorism, something I where I think they should target their patrol.

2. a different standard would definitely be applied if it were
a Muslim, so in the meantime are they just chalking this up too, I bet if this guy was not critical in the hospital they would have been interviewing him too, like Tillers murderer.

NPR reported this morning on von Brun and not once was he referred to as a "terrorist." Yet, he did the same thing a "suicide bomber" does: walk into a public area with a weapon with the intent on killing innocents in order to advance a political agenda...

Muslim population in the States would get visits from their friendly neighborhood legalized goon squad, meaning the helpful and never over-the-line law enforcement community.

With non-stop cable news coverage of his clandestine sleeper group. News conferences from Homeland Security about progress on rooting out this terrorist cell. Hard questions from reporters on the size and armament of this terror group.

But he wasn't Muslim so we need to move along, nothing to see, we are perfectly safe. :sarcasm:

What would the news media and government do if Bin Laden sympathizers bought up some radio stations and broadcast that form of hate speech just up to the edge of what is allowable by law? Defend their "freedom of speech"?

and none of those things happened. Remember the little rock, army recruiting center murderer?

Have people honestly forgotten that in light of all the media attention given to Roeder and von Brunn? Seems like a good counter argument right there.

Because a Muslim recently shot at a recruiting office and killed one guy and wounded another. None of those things you mentioned has happened.

I made a similiar comment up-thread. It seems people would rather rage against hypotheticals and work themselves in to a frenzy than use real world examples that don't elicit outrage.
