Over SIX MILLION WILL DIE from global warming by 2030. TELL BURGER KING...
Edited on Thu Jun-11-09 11:33 AM by time_has_come
...you will NEVER eat there again unless there is some kind of PUNATIVE action taken against the franchise owner who posted "Global Warming is Baloney" signs at multiple restaurants. The owner ignored the BK Corporate request to take the signs down, so now the BK Corporate must take action to demonstrate that it takes this seriously. It's bigger than a franchisee ignoring Corporate orders. This is a franchisee spreading ignorance and apathy about a deadly serious issue.

Burger King Corporation
5505 Blue Lagoon Drive
Miami, Florida 33126

Corporate Headquarters - 305-378-3000
Marketing/Advertising Information Requests - 305-378-7200
Consumer Relations - 305-378-3535
HAVE IT YOUR WAY® Cards Consumer Help Desk - 1-800-522-1278

It's important to stand up and let people know there are consequences for spreading ignorance and apathy about such a serious issue.

Would they post "Holocaust is a Fraud" sign? Of course not...the owner would fear the consequences even if he believed it. So why is this OK? Because the corporate denial-machine has had some success in labeling global warming a fraud/joke.

And please, no freedom of speech lectures. I'm not proposing anyone lose or inhibit freedom of speech. I do propose that harmful/damaging speech by a corporate entity be rewarded with a loss of business if they don't stand against the damaging behavior of an owner of multiple franchises.

And six million dead by 2030 is likely a low number because it's based upon the latest IPCC reports, which are understood to be very conservative.

1. Uh.... Burger King's corporate office has already told this franchisee to lose the signs
Turns out that BK's CEO was really pissed off to have the idiocy associated with his company.

Don't know whether he still buys rainforest beef or not, but take the good news for what it's worth.

2. And the franchisee thumbed his nose. I should have made it clearer....will change...
...ask for PUNATIVE action, not just a request that the signs be taken down.

Burger King Corp. should stand up here for truth and public interest and do something that makes a strong statement to the world that it's not acceptable to lie about what is the most serious problem facing mankind.

18. Six million people will undoubtedly die by 2030.
Most through infant mortality and old age. Some by car accidents. Some by drug abuse. Some by starvation, some by gluttony. Some because they live in a desert, some because they live in a swamp. Some because they live in a slide zone, some because they live on a volcano. Some because they stayed tan from 15 to 50, some because they haven't figured out that it gets warmer as you go farther south. Some because they smoked cigarettes, some because they drank booze. And some will die from living life all freaked out by life.

19. Yeah, it's so funny. Keep laughing..
..if it makes you feel better.

Or go read the report and show some respect for the people who have died, are dying, and will die.

4. Everybody should go down to Burger King and get a whopper.
To thank them for taking action against the franchise.

Thanks, BK.

Thabks.

9. Yeah, you're right...
we should just let it pass by without challenge. That way all other franchise owners will see there's no consequence besides publicity to discount the most serious threat facing us....something already killing 300,000+ people a year and seriously affecting 325 million.

Or maybe you don't think global warming is killing and affecting ppl...?

8. ANY politician who pushes this nonsense will be indirectly responsible for these deaths
I've been saying this for quite some time. All these politicians, pseudo-scientists, authors (ie Michael Creighton), and celebrities who push this "global warming is a hoax" bullshit are indirectly helping to slaughter MILLIONS of people around the world.

10. First off- you're assuming that the impact of his signs are harmful.
Edited on Thu Jun-11-09 11:55 AM by imdjh
Secondly, I am thoroughly disgusted at your equation of a Global Warming prediction on the impact of modern living to the Holocaust which is an established historical event and a deliberate criminal act.

If rural people are as simpleminded as you would have us believe, then perhaps these signs are getting people to educate themselves to have an informed opinion. Of course, that doesn't necessarily meet your approval, right?

13. Both the Holocaust and global warming have killed people
Global warming is continuing to kill people.

Global warming is being denied and downplayed, making it easier for people to turn a blind eye. The same things happened during the Holocaust.
If you accept that global warming is killing people, then it's not such a stretch to see the criminality of those who willfully deny it.

Sorry you're "disgusted," but maybe you should ask the people of Sudan how disgusted they feel about these signs. That conflict arose after drought caused water scarcity. Some estimates put the death-toll there as high as 400,000, and the death and suffering continues. I suppose they would look at these signs as harmless, right?

I'm not saying anything about the simplmindedness of rural people, but I would question the intelligence of anyone viewing these signs as harmless. It's essential that public will to fight global warming is bolstered so individuals and all levels of government feel compelled to act. These signs clearly work in opposition to that.

16. What the hell is
a "range free chicken"?

Are they chickens that do not come with their own range? If so, I bought a chicken the other day and to cook it I have to use my own range! I am so angry now!
