Dana Milbank mocks "angry" single-payer proponents
Edited on Thu Jun-11-09 12:33 PM by AlexanderProgressive
Dana Milbank, apparently still angry that Keith Olbermann practically kicked him out of his show for distorting Barack Obama's words one time, today mocked Dennis Kucinich, John Conyers, and other advocates of the single-payer health system, portraying them as "angry" and just "blowing off steam:

Excerpts:

"Socialism is not dead. It has, however, been confined to a House subcommittee. "

...

""There's some notion that universal single-payer health care is off the table," Conyers fumed."

...

"With Republicans declining to take the bait, the task of arguing with the angry single-payer crowd fell to a witness, David Gratzer of the conservative Manhattan Institute."

...

"Kucinich was definitely fierce, if not entirely articulate, as he directed his rage at the bespectacled scholar."

Milbank is apparently using the "angry" meme as a planned strategy, for he said the following on April this year, while complaining about the fact that liberals in his comments section don't like him:

It made sense for them to be angry when George W. Bush was in the White House. But now, even under Obama, the anger on the left is, if anything, more personal and vitriolic than on the right.

After the abortion and museum murders, does Milbank still think that way?

5. Agree. They're all too wealthy and most are hired fresh off the
Harvard Crimson or other Ivy League school papers at the age of 22.

6. Angry? How many leftists are storming Blue Cross with weapons?
What a bunch of trash. People for single-payer are rationally angry. You have an entire country brought to its knees economically from this mess and they aren't looking at the 1 solution guarenteed to alieve the problem. That is frustrating. But..."more personal and vitriolic than on the right"? Come on now.

They are just trying to undermine the voices again instead of address them.

Except for the assassination of abortion doctors, police, and security guards (in lieu of jews) part.

Nice try Dana...

10. I do think that, if it isn't totally off the table, it's got its feet on the floor.
Don't shoot the messenger, now.

It just seems that there was a lot more support for it in the House a year ago. I suspect the Dems have been sold the notion that it is too expensive, and instead, we'll see some sort of "hybrid" system that doesn't satisfy all.
