Proof that Diplomacy works
Source: CNN

In the biggest protest ever since the Islamic revolution 30 years ago, hundreds of thousands of people showed up to support Mir Hossein Mousavi, the pro-reform candidate. This is just two days before the election day.

I really don't know if you need more evidence that diplomacy and opening of relations works than this.

The Obama administration deserves some small bit of credit for this and the movement away from war and violence, and those who backed that movement deserves a massive amount of credit.

Obama's speech and the perception that he will be an honest dealer in the middle east probably did a good deal to help this along. Now with peace and reform obviously workable what will the Israeli government do?

1. The tide turned against the current leadership in Iran in the elections two years ago
when Mr. A lost a huge number of seats.

Let's give the Iranians credit for knowing their guy is a looney.

Everything isn't about us.

Hell, I just read Reagan's Ambassador to the Soviet Union say the collapse of the Soviet Union had NOTHING to do with US policies. It was nice to read that from a R Admin. official.

Though we do have to take credit when we screw things up horribly too. After all Bush's Axis of Evil BS set back reform a that was already happening in Iran back a couple of years.

2. Obama deserves more than just SMALL credit
If Bush was still in office, the Iranians would be afraid to replace Ahmadinijad. Now his attempts to scare them are falling on deaf ears.

5. I suppose
You are probably correct, this movement has been going on for awhile. Still it would probably be a functional secular nation if we hadn't reinstalled the Shah in the first place.
