GM sells Saab
"Swedish luxury carmaker Koenigsegg and Norwegian investors have struck a preliminary deal to buy General Motors' Swedish unit Saab, a source familiar with the matter said on Thursday.

The source told Reuters a letter of intent had been signed between the parties and said the financing of the deal had been agreed, leaving only minor issues to be resolved.

"The deal is there now and a few minor details remain," said the source, who declined to be identified."

1. I'm glad they got a buyer -- I love my Saab
I actually got an email from the Saab dealership about a month ago saying that there was a likely Swedish buyer that would be announced in June.

2. I'm glad too
The brand isn't really necessary for GM but hopefully this company can make it work for them.

3. Saabs are good cars, I'm glad that GM won't be responsible for killing it.
A friend had one for years. I still remember trying to find the ignition one night in the dark! Who would have guessed it would be on the console between the front seats?

Good times... ;)

6. You get used to it
When I drive LostinVA's car, I often try to stick the key into the center console a few times. She has a VW.

4. hundreds of thousands of saab lovers are rejoicing around the world
finally saab can get back to engineering cars that are as solid as the first saabs.

i`ve owned over 25 93s,96s,99s,and one 9000. the early models were great cars and the 9000 was a pile of junk. anyone need a wood rim steering wheel from a saab 93 monte carlo?

5. this is one of the cars they build

the "stig" at the bbc program "top gear" drove this car off the race track because the car lack rear downforce. fearing the damage the car to the car the top gear hosts thought another test the car was out of question. a year later the koenigsegg people brought the cat back to "top gear" so the "stig" could retest the car. the wing worked.

7. Well, Stig drove the non-race version.
The CCX, a bit more like this:

A fantastic car to be sure. Faster around their track than the Bugatti Veyron and the Pagani Zonda F.

According to Jeremy Clarkson, "Koenigsegg" is Swedish for "Oh my God, my head's exploded!"

I'm a Top Gear junkie. June 21st and the start of Season 13 can't arrive soon enough.
