US House passes Pakistan Aid Bill - HR 1886.

Provides military and non-military aid to Pakistan starting in 2010. One year of military aid ($450 million) and 3 years of domestic aid ($1.5 billion.) Aid carries some conditions.

Republicans tried to strip accountability, oversight and reporting requirements from the bill. :eyes: After eight years' of blank checks they can't change their tune. Dems struck down their amendments.

Prohibits military aid unless Pakistan dismantles nuclear supply "network". (not sure of specifics)

Includes funds for schools, teachers' salaries and student food programs.

Allows the President to waive military aid conditions if "important" national security issues arise. (not sure of specifics)

Funding begins in 2010, conditions are imposed in 2011.

The bill will end up in joint House/Senate committee with the Kerry/Luger bill, when it gets completed.

(aside)The Representative that chaired the House today really knew how to run the procedures, move things along, especially in such a convoluted process.
