For those interested in Iran developments
I suggest going to Andrew Sullivan's blog now at http://andrewsullivan.theatlantic.com

He's updating rapidly, and the content and analysis of the 'results', the quickly growing discontent, and reactions from Iranians is excellent. He's being helped by contributions from Farsi-speaking readers, and is providing a clearer picture of what's happening in Iran.

I am getting the feeling that Iran is getting ready to have
an all out internal conflict. This is going to be really bad!

3. Or will it be good?
A reverse Islamic revolution is what is needed in the ME.

5. Yes you are right it would be good for Iran and the World
It won't be a bloodless revolution though...

7. What revolution isn't bloody?
It does put me in mind of that famous Jefferson quote though: "The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants."

Unfortunately a lot of innocent people could very well die - and already have died - here, but hopefully not in vain. Some of the powerful clergy there are now calling for the results to be nullified.

4. 50-100 reported killed
From the videos, that's no surprise and it's just a start.

6. I figured that this would be ugly
Ahmenutjob wasn't going to go quietly, and the will of the people was clearly with Musevni. I think what's happening in Iran is what would have happened if McCain had won this past fall in our election.

8. update
Yes, the president of Iran's own election monitoring commission has declared the result invalid and called for a do-over. That is huge news: when a regime's own electoral monitors beak ranks, what chance does the regime have of persuading anyone in the world or Iran that it has democratic legitimacy? Second:
Stratfor is reporting that Ayatollah Ali Akbar Hashemi-Rafsanjani, head of the Expediency Council, has resigned. Though unconfirmed, the report is saying that Rafsanjani is resigning from his position as head of the Expediencey Council, NOT his position as the leader of the Assembly of Experts, which has oversight responsibility over the office of the Supreme Leader and would be responsible for naming Ayatollah Khamenei’s successor.

10. They didn't reelect him ...he rigged the polls
It's just come through that the Iranian head of the Expediency Council, their Electoral Commission, has resigned and basically said that the results are invalid and the vote should be re-held. If their own guy is saying it's a fix, something is definitely wrong there.

Why do you think the Iranian people are rioting in the streets of Tehran? They do not want Ahmadinejad as their President any more than the West does.

15. Thanks for the link.
I'm watching the German coverage but it pours in slowly. Seems like all of the talk of being 'honest, truthful, transparent' dind't come over so well, but hey, we're talking politicians after all. ;) Hope you're well!
