GOP Activist Calls Gorilla One of Michelle's 'Ancestors'

COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) - A state Republican activist has admitted to and apologized for calling a gorilla that escaped from the Riverbanks Zoo Friday an "ancestor" of First Lady Michelle Obama.

A screen capture of the comment, made on the Internet site Facebook, was obtained by FITSNews, the website of South Carolina politico Will Folks.

The image shows a post by an aide to state Attorney General Henry McMaster describing Friday morning's gorilla escape at Columbia's Riverbanks Zoo.

Longtime SCGOP activist and former state Senate candidate Rusty DePass responded with the comment, "I'm sure it's just one of Michelle's ancestors - probably harmless."

DePass told WIS News 10 he was talking about First Lady Michelle Obama.

And then DePass offered the rote non-apology apology:

We spoke with DePass over the phone Friday night. He said, "I am as sorry as I can be if I offended anyone. The comment was clearly in jest."

Clearly in jest. Clearly. Surely. Only humorless, hypersensitive, politically correct people would make a stink over something so harmless. How could anybody be offended by a joke that DePass probably heard the first version of from his grandfather who heard it from his grandfather?

The worst kind of comments like that are those made in jest.

Nerves are raw. Maybe in 50 to 100 years.

demonstrate the bunch that form the republican party. However, if michelle would hire the right personal stylist to soften her looks, she would look so much better. Her eyebrows are the most visible item that comes out of her face. They need to be trimmed and softened. Thy are too curvy and gives the idea that she might be angry at somebody when in reality she is a sweet lady. Her eyebrows must be flatened a little bit.. and not show that high curvy witchy look.

The Obamas now have plenty of cash after the selling of President Obama's books. I am sure Michelle can now afford to fix her teeth as well. I know these things are not important because they are physical and we should not be looking at facial imperfections, however Michelle's facial "imperfections" are making her look something she is not.

My two cents on this subject. coming from someone who really love and admire the first lady.

We all know that the only value that a woman has is her appearance. She must get a make-over and new wardrobe immediately! Her intelligence and character have no relevance. How dare her not meet the patiarchal beauty mandates! :sarcasm:
