2. Same here
Compared to the Vista RTM versions that I used before its official release, Windows 7 has run like a dream.

16. I'm really looking forward to it!
Vista in my experience has been laggy and slow but it never gave me any major problems particularly on my lower end laptop bought new almost a year ago. The gaming computer, Vista runs extremely well on it. To be expected since all the components in it are high performance. The average pc people use are inexpensive low end pc's and thats what gave people performance problems with Vista in the beginning, they were still coming with 1gig of ram which was plenty for XP in general home use.

4. I'm surrounded by PC components which just arrived from Newegg
I plan on running W7 64 bit along with XP Pro and Linux Mint. W7 32-bit "ran" on the old machine (this one) but scored a 1.0 on the performance grade. :)

6. Yea, Windows 7 is going to require some serious hardware
It works great on the machine I'm running now that has a Quad core processor and 8 GB of memory but isn't going to run all that well on the older 32 bit XP machines that dominate the market right now.

But, with hardware so cheap (especially RAM), I have a feeling that there could be good sales for computer manufacturers this Christmas season.

10. Good sales just like when XP showed up in 2001.
Few people actually upgrade their OS intentionally. They upgrade only when it comes on the new computer.

27. Few *personal* users purposefully upgrade their OS
But, businesses try to stay a little closer to the front of the technology curve. Business sales are what drive the IT world, and if Windows 7 gets a good reception then that will drive demand for home versions of the OS. So far, Windows 7 has far exceeded expectations (not that expectations are that high).

26. Holy crap!
My office (800+ users) is switching from XP next year to Windows 7, and we're buying all new machines. Maybe we won't have to purchase as many as we think. For example, I run a dual-core 32 bit XP Pro system with 4 GB of RAM (it only uses 3, though) at work, and I'll bet that at least 1/3 of all the users in the building are running the same. I may do some serious performance testing over the next couple of months to see how many computers we can get away with keeping for another year or two.

24. Yeah, I just saw it. It's a scream. Takes me back to the days when I was
a government contractor and had to use a PC. Oy, but I don't miss that, although it was a great job in other ways.

14. Go play with your mac - that's about the only contribution you ever make on computer threads
I've had one (1) crash since I installed it, and that was testing a video card which I knew in advance to be slightly defective. While I never moved anything mission-critical to Vista, I've been using win & as my main system for several months now with no headaches. There's a reason so many people are making positive noises about it.

17. Intel and AMD engineers must CRY every time MS writes more code.
Such elegant hardware, completely brought to its knees by a buggy, insecure OS.

Oh well, when people start discarding their PC's to get something that makes the minimum box specs I'll get
a nice new bunch of cheap servers running Linux. ;)

Sorry, had to represent. Sue me....

I am hoping it is as good as they say it is. If it's not, I'm crossing over to the other side and buying a Mac. I'm fed up with the crap that Microsoft forces down our throats.
