12. They're "saps" ... spring-loaded and weighted. Far more lethal than a mere club.

They usually have a lead shot or lead powder load in the "business end." You can see the wide flange at the end of the handle ... which helps hold onto it when swung with great speed and sweaty hands. Anything to make it easier to swing hard.
