Any other West Wing fans like Arnold Vinick?
I'm a bit behind the times, I'm only now up to the 7th season of the West Wing (my favorite season by far!), and I gotta say, I like Vinick. This scene is great: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ORKwuEdpZd0

1. He is/was a fictional character - just like the puke he was portraying, a reasonable, moderate
repuke.

In real life, they do not exist.

2. Well he's better than real Republican nominees for sure
Unfortunately, the same is true on our side. Although I could have sworn the Obama campaign lifted a couple of "Santos" lines here and there.

The show is often realistic in some areas but blatant fantasyland in others. The idea that a pro-choice, and unapologetically so, candidate could get the Republican nomination is definitely in the latter bucket.

3. They did a great job
casting Alan Alda in that role. I do like the character especially when he does battle with the christian types on the show. However, I think it was appropriate that the great show ended when Bartlett's second term ended. Maybe a spin off with Josh and Donna getting married and becoming Washington lobbyists. West Wing with alot of sex and intrique.

5. I think that it would have been cool if they had let viewers vote for the winner
Have 2 final episodes in the can, one of Santos winning, one of Vinick. Set up an online vote or something to determine the winner.

6. I had the ending of the 7th season ruined, which sucks
My parents were both fans of the show before it was even on my radar, and I ended up knowing who won long before I even started watching the series!

7. I knew about the show for years but when it was on, I wasn't watching much tv.
I started to watch it at the start of the 6th season so there will be no surprise endings for me.

:hi:
