Man who leaked the real Iran election results killed in a suspicious car accident
11am:

"The man who leaked the real election results from the Interior Ministry - the ones showing Ahmadinejad coming third - was killed in a suspicious car accident, according to unconfirmed reports, writes Saeed Kamali Dehghan in Tehran.

Mohammad Asgari, who was responsible for the security of the IT network in Iran's interior ministry, was killed yesterday in Tehran.

Asgari had reportedly leaked results that showed the elections were rigged by government use of new software to alter the votes from the provinces.

Asgari was said to have leaked information that showed Mousavi had won almost 19 million votes, and should therefore be president."

3. I feel so sad for the Iranian people who want out from under that regime.

It must be hell to be educated and to know there's a better way of life, and have to put up with the oppression, the fashion police, the brutality. They're damn brave for being in the streets. I hope they win their freedom soon. The old guard is just that OLD. Those under 30 are 70% of the population, so they have to prevail!

That particular demographic makes me wonder about deaths in the Iran/Irac War era. It must have been enormous. (???)

22. Mousavi is and has always been part of the regime.
If by the regime you mean the power of the ayatollahs, Mousavi is not fighting the regime. He's not even a moderate.

I won't pretend to know who won the elections, or if they were rigged. Sibel Edmonds says they may have been rigged just becasue they usually are - but that doesn't mean Mousavi is a savior to the Iranian masses. It's more like an internal power struggle within the regime. I really don't think we - outside of Iran and not citizens of Iran - should take sides in this, except to speak out when civilian protesters are killed in the streets.

9. Guess he won't be testifyin' to the Grand Council.
Of course he was killed. He is a real martyr to democracy. A better model of martyrdom for Iran to embrace.

21. 2/3 of the iranian people?
the DU echo chamber is finally realizing they've been had.

the most important lesson i think is to understand that modern Western liberal values are not the supreme values, but rather the values of the economically dominant group.
