Thoughts on the handling of healthcare reform
I posted this on small multi-party board. Thought I would share my thoughts.

I've done a lot of thinking...as I'm sure we all have, especially the last couple of weeks.

Things I think...of course all opinion:

1. Obama doesn't understand negotiations. Your first offer should be exactly what you want...maybe even more. Don't EVER offer up concessions right out of the gate. Whether you like him or not...he's not doing a good job at getting his vision implemented. His first offer was a compromise. Stupid. You work towards a compromise. You don't start with one. Negotiating 101.

2. Even though many on the right are insisting that he's refusing to compromise...it is necessary to realize that his first offer offered up was/is to have a public option along side the current present option. If he wasn't compromising, his first offer would have been 100% UHC. That's not happening. Nor was it ever on the table. And it will not happen in this instance. That I can guarantee 100%.

3. I hope that the right begins to understand that this IS a compromise. The right wants the left to move towards them on this issue. I have yet to see the right put forth a compromise. But why should they? They know the left is too weak willed to straight demand what they want on healthcare. They could...they have the executive and a strong majority in the legislative. They could just shove it through. But the left is too damn limp dicked to do it. The right knows this and so even after immediately being presented a compromise, they will strong arm the left until...really...nothing is changed in regards to healthcare...and the status quo is only slightly altered.

Just some thoughts.

Flame suit on.

1. No flames here
Some of us get the basic fact that, even if you will eventually accept a kitten, you need to keep asking for the pony.

2. The right wing never compromises with the left.
And why should they? We've trained them that we'll never stand our ground. We want everybody to happy. They're only concerned about their individual happiness. On that other forum I posted this on...the first rightie tried to tell me what Obama brought to the table wasn't a compromise.

I told him, "If it wasn't a compromise...it would be 100% UHC. THAT'S what the first offer should have been. You're so used to getting your way...you can't even tell when you've been offered a compromise.".
